That's a fail.  Got to get it right.  UM rightfully fired their OC, I know they won, but one play action pass to a delayed tight end on that last goal line drive was a guaranteed touchdown.  Instead he had to try and bludgeon the best goal line D in the country.

Tennesee, Hennesey, Lemmesee, it don't matter fire Day.

I'm not even close to over the abomination that was the playcalling last Saturday, but I guess we have to move on. Day had the team ready to play Georgia after a crushing loss to TUN two years ago, so I guess we can expect that he will have the team ready for the playoffs this year as well. My current view is that Chip Kelly and Will Howard are the two most responsible for losing The Game, and so I wouldn't mind seeing Day take playcalling back from Kelly for the playoffs even though I think he should not be the coach anymore. Day is a pass-first OC and that is what this offense needs. I have no idea what Kelly was thinking but he needs to not be in charge of anything important going forward.

Go Bucks....

My impression was that both teams just wanted to inflict a cloud of dust on each other.  Michigan needed to.  OSU had too much at stake and too many other options to play their game.  They just wanted to have a slap fight.

Yeah, I blame Day less for the playcalling and think having him take it over for now is a good idea too.

Anybody who watched Howard at Kansas State knew the Buckeyes were not getting elite talent. He was largely protected in that system with a heavy dose of the run and he still was very turnover prone.

It wasn’t ever thought that he was elite. The guys behind him are, they are just inexperienced. Ultimately they don’t need him to be elite to win a title. He just needs to be decent. With the defense and surrounding talent. Main issue is all the injuries to the OL, the lack of OL depth , and the kicker. All of it a coaching fail. We shall see.

Do we have to?

This just feels like a no win situation. I have so little confidence in Day. I think that they show up this week like the UGA playoff game from a couple of years ago. That Georgia team was awesome and the Bucks outplayed them. If that happens here, they’ll win by 2 scores. If they show up a little blah, they’ll get beat and that’s a nightmare for the program. If they win this weekend, they’ll beat Oregon IMO.

We are a little terrified, and it has nothing to do with the opponent haha

That’s the insane part. I cheer for Ryan Day, Sean McDermott and Aaron Boone. 😂😂 I expect them to make crazy mistakes and hope that the talent overcomes it.

Guys, same page. I just think that Ryan Day has built a soft football team and needs to go. I would like nothing more than for him to prove me wrong over the next four games.

As for the Vols, I think they smell blood and are coming in hot. I expect them to really come right at the Bucks. Oddly enough, starting this morning I just started getting hyped about the idea of the skill positions making big plays, and this defense potentially pitching a shutout. I guess that’s how it goes in this soap opera.

Outside of our painfully grabby corners I’m not too concerned about the defense. I’m concerned about the offensive game plan and kicking game. Plus Howard is good for about one bone headed play per game that they will need to overcome. They should be able to throw downfield on these guys but that is on the coaches to call it. I’m very scarred from what we’ve had to watch recently. It’s going to be about 15 degrees so I will be interested to see the Vols QB as he’s never thrown in cold weather, he’s a southern cal kid. Howard definitely has in HS, at Kstate, and here. Generally Heupel hasn’t been putting too much on his plate and leaning on the run game. If the bucks can get out to a decent lead they should be good as the Vols don’t have an explosive pass offense. But again, it’s ALL on the coaches. Specifically Day and Kelly. Bc I’ll put our talent up against any team in this playoff.  Even with the kicker, Day just needs to be aggressive and go for some of these 4th downs instead of FGs in plus territory.

The weather thing is interesting — sure the Vols don’t want to play in cold weather, but do we? So many of our players are from different parts of the country now that I’m not even sure.

Also, between coaching drama, portal OL drama, ticket sales and in-game control of the music, etc., the game seems like a distraction!

Wanting to play in it and having experience playing in it are separate. A lot of our guys have experience, esp the QB, that may be a difference maker.
