Training Camp 2014...Tweets from all sources, Week 1

Am i the only one glad there is no practice today?

I needed a break from the roller coaster.

30 years ago we knew camp started, they practiced, we watched the exhibition games, and that was it.

Now we have every play in every practice commented on....and i hinge on every one :wallbash:

Football in a fishbowl. I guess the media is just filling a market demand. But it's really shortsighted.

GO BILLS!!!

I played DB/WR on a pretty solid 6A high school team in FL (played with Kawika Mitchell). I was by no means very good, but I played with and against several D1/NFL caliber athletes and I somewhat understand the concepts of playing DB. The first move Sammy makes in this clip literally gave me chills. That is not human. That is undefendable.

I disagree. Pears has played well when healthy and was by no means the weak link the past couple of years. He was banged up all last season, hence; his play suffered a great deal.

I would love Cyrus to walk in and take the starting job from him quite quickly, but it hasn't happened yet. He's relatively a newbie when it comes to football, so it really shouldn't come as any surprise he hasn't mastered all the nuances of the position yet. Shame on him, it's only 3-days into his first training camp, right? But then again, if he doesn't beat out Pears, hopefully the Bills will cut his azz...

You're drastically overestimating Pears' ability. I've watched the guy for years miss blocks, give half ass effort at the second level, and be used as a turnstile by any DE with a bit of speed -- not even much speed, just a bit. Pears is terrible. He wouldn't start for any other line in the league and he won't start for this one either.

My comment wasn't meant as a slam against Cyrus, more a slam against how putrid Pears actually is on the football field. It takes time to learn the position, I understand that, but I stand by what I said: if Cyrus cannot take the starting job from Pears he's got a long road ahead of him in the NFL.

Pears is TURRIBLE.

FYI I won't be manning twitter during practice tonight because believe it or not I actually have a life and have plans tonight. B-) I'll be eager to catch up later tonight and will add any interesting stuff I see on twitter unless someone else has already posted it.

I have coached and worked with college coaches and sat in on many a film session......I know that 1st move your talking about. I am seriously wondering how you even stop something like that.....EVERYTHING YOU TEACH a corner to press a WR off the line will set him up for failure for a player that can do that especially if they are physical to go along with that kind of suddenness

It’s been one week since the Bills reported to camp. Checking in on their seven draft picks: http://es.pn/1tKeamp

Ian Rapaport is in Pittsford today

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 3m

Interesting how #Bills view DE Jerry Hughes compared to Indy. Then he was a bust. Rushing the passer, he’s been great here. Big expectations

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 9m

Talked with #Bills DC Jim Schwartz about what drew him to this job. One thing talent at all 3 levels of D. Hasn’t had DBs like this in years

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 19m

Here in Rochester, the #Bills will get DL Marcell Dareus back on the field tonight for his first practice. Hoping for increased maturity

Losing Kiko Alonso stings for #Bills. But heard strong praise from GM Doug Whaley about mature rookie Preston Brown — Kiko’s replacement

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet 2m

Competition to replace Kiko ongoing. But Brown has a jump RT @DwayneB13: @RapSheet I thought Bradham was still in the mix for a replacement.

I have been listening to all the hype and I even saw the catch everyone was talking about the other day but it wasn't until I saw that juke you are talking about that it hit me how good this kid is gonna be. Great call.

From what I have been reading and hearing, the starting lineup and base defense has Bradham playing instead of Kiko on the outside. In the nickel defense, the base defense has had Brown in the middle, where Kiko was last year. Sometimes Bradham is in there, too. But that is the disconnect. Bradham is taking Kiko's place to start and on run downs. Kiko was always going to move back to the middle on pass downs, taking Spikes' place, and that position for right now is being taken by Brown.

I finally got a chance to watch the video referenced. When people ask why you trade up for a WR when this draft was full of WRs, well, that is your answer. There were 4 elite level NFL players in this draft. He is one of them. If you have a chance to bring a difference-making player onto your team who can help make your young QB better and make the defense game plan around him for at least the next 5 years, you do it.

30 years ago, the NFL was not as popular as it is today.
