If we could get any game management from EJ at all we will be on solid ground. I hate using the term game manager after we had to deal with Ryan Fitzpatrick, but in Fitz's best year, with this team and what we have he would get us to the playoffs in 2014. Of course, he is a shell of what he was and his flash in the pan success didn't last.

EJ Manuel is a QB that will either boom or bust. I hate saying it, I have almost no grounds to say it other then just my gut. He will either be a Pro Bowl QB in 2015 / 2016 or he will be gone. I don't see much in between for his career in Buffalo, we simply want too much. I could see him taking a Chad Pennington or Daunte Culpepper type of career path.

That's not an unreasonable stance to have. I don't know how Manuel will do this year.

I hope he can get to that next level, but it's unclear if he will. He does not have to play at an All-Pro level to get the Bills to the playoffs. An above average year from him will do that, and I'd be satisfied with that type of performance.

I think Manuel has potential to be good-to-great, we'll just have to wait and see.

I agree, any sort of consistent play while reducing turnovers and we could have a great season, and surprise a lot of people...

The Running Game needs to kick in too. Too often they couldn't covert 3rd and short to keep the chain moving.

and at the goal line!!!!

But I'm more worried about the passing game, unless cordy is back.

The OL is key for the success of the running game... If our additions can improve those 3 weak OL positions, just imagine what our RB's can do!!

Nathaniel Hacket not calling for the run/option play 10 times a game, will help our running game a lot.

From what I read in bb.com Nate is going to use Spiller differently, more like Chan did in 2012...

And we were going to be using the slant pattern with Stevie a lot last year.

I'll believe it when I see it.

As much as I hope this piece was genuine, I'm forced to agree with you! One can hope

I disagree with this statement 100%. There have been plenty of teams that have had simply average quarterbacks, that have been able to get to and win the Superbowl. The talent around the quarterback on both sides of the ball can matter quite a bit. Russell Wilson wasn't all that last season. The Seahawks won it all because of their wicked defense. At the end of the day, I just want to see consistency from him. If he has less turnovers than touchdowns, the Bills have a chance to compete if the defense comes to play and has learned how to stop the run. I wouldn't mind seeing the "boom" none the less. LOL.

Oh, I get what you are saying and agree fully. Average QB's can win the big one. But, not in Buffalo. Not this fan base. Ryan Fitzpatrick or Rob Johnson could have taken us to the promised land and bring us a ring home and we'd still want to throw them out on the street.

We saw how many QB's start out nicely, get pretty good to even great then fall flat on their face. If I start prognosticating when I look in to my magic ball I think the move this team needs to make when it's ready to break thru - after the break out, after the busted hump, after getting the kinks out - is finding a veteran QB and bringing him to Buffalo. I am talking about a bonafide starter the likes of Phillip Rivers, Cam Newton, Drew Brees. Not the pedestrian Andy Dalton, Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler.

This team trying to draft a QB is like any other team, Russian Roulette. Every time you put your finger on the trigger and pull you're taking a chance that the QB is going to pan out. Getting to that point, from what I have seen, is impossible. You need a consistent top 5 pick 3 out of 5 years, and finish no better then 5-6 wins in that entire duration just to uncover one.

And, I know about how some times you find one late in the rounds, etc. But, Tom Brady was a fluke, shouldn't exist and I do not give the Patriots any credit for him turning out to be the player he was. That was all Tom Brady, he is the only one who deserves credit. That beerball.

I think he meant Boom- gets us to the playoffs or Bust- is out the door... And not necessarily this season.

bingo, and the playoffs might not be enough for us. Until we have a QB we believe in and a QB who delivers us the baby - we're not going to let him be our QB.

Are you referencing baby Lombardi?

I think that given our past and our passion for this team- any QB that has a serious hand in getting us to the playoffs will be our savior... Especially if said QB continues to improve and show growth!!!
