BillsNYC Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Michael Moore's gamble to hold his hit film "Fahrenheit 9/11" out of the documentary category -- to boost its best-picture prospects -- backfired. The movie was shut out across the board. Moore won the documentary prize two years ago for "Bowling for Columbine."

Toledo Bill Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Maybe the documentary about him dropping dead due to obesity will win someday.
/dev/null Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Or maybe the voters were pissed that he accidentally helped W win. 218281 or maybe now that the election is over they realize it wasn't that good to begin with

Buftex Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 or maybe now that the election is over they realize it wasn't that good to begin with 219071 Are we talking about Mel Gibsons' flick?
/dev/null Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Are we talking about Mel Gibsons' flick?219890 this was a thread about fahrenheit 911. nowhere in it does anyone mention anything about the pasion of the christ. you must have misinterpreted something or taken something out of context i see the spirit of michael moore lives on
nobody Posted January 27, 2005 Posted January 27, 2005 Michael Moore's gamble to hold his hit film "Fahrenheit 9/11" out of the documentary category -- to boost its best-picture prospects -- backfired. 218263 Don't know if it really backfired - he got plenty of extra attention by this action. Sales of the movie were not going to increase because it would have that sticker saying "best documentary" on it like other movies have in the past. He and his movies are beyond that level now (whether you like them or not isn't an issue.) There is only ever one spot, if any, for a non-major studio film in that category and Sideways got the vote this time.

Instead of having the world's stage for 2 minutes had he won the documentary award, he won't even be an afterthought on the night of the event.
