Not sure where to put this... I guess it can go in the cop shooting thread or here.

It opens up an interesting discussion. Why does one carry or need to carry a gun? For protection? Even from the police?

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/grandfather-man-killed-police-survive-41446543

It is an "arms race" and one is needed for "survival." Outside of the police, which then happen to stumble onto him w/his mode of survival in his hand he becomes a goner @ the hands of a superior trained officer. He puts that gun down, he still may get shot, beat, etc...

It is the law of the jungle out there. Why do you carry? For protection. Why do they carry? For protection Does one put that "protection" down at any cost? Live by the sword, die by the sword.

It is obvious to see the answer to this thread of which is better.

The the kid was was wrong, the grandfather was wrong and the kid deserved to be shot...

...what bubble do you speak of? I am probably more involved in the real world than you.

I doubt that one. A lot. I've been places man. I've seen some things.

And you're saying live by the sword die by the sword. That's the bubble. Your take on the police is evident. Your hypocritical lifestyle is obvious. You get pulled over you choose to fight in court when you're in the wrong and win a technicality. But then refuse to chastise those who choose to fight "the man" and end up shot.

Huh... I am in the right, that is why I go to court. I got pulled over and the cop was wrong, that is why he didn't show in court... Because he knew he was a liar. When the one cop did show (other incident), I caught him in his own lie.

Cops are not always 100% right... They are looking for revenue and to please their superiors.

The kid in Milwaukee fought the man and lost. He was wrong for what he was doing anyway... Yet he lays that pistol down, he is probably a dead man too.

What effed up planet you on?

I have chastised the kid in Milwaukee for what he was doing. But, the weapon is already in his hands. You are simply not going to win fighting the man in their own private playground... That is why more guns is not better. You simply don't want to cross paths w/the man in that effed up playground... Especially with a gun in your hand!

What's the premise of this thread? More guns or less guns? It sure seems more guns is a liability. Like the grandpappy said... He was just practicing "survival" aka: protecting himself in the jungle.

High risk, high reward. Big winners, and bigger losers. This thug was a big loser and even bigger losers rallying around this thug.

Where do you get off saying I am not chastising him?

This is why we can't have guns in this country...

Complete bullcrap. There are millions of law abiding gun owners in this country. You may as well say that we can't have prescription drugs in this country because some people will die from abusing them.

No I didn't. Maybe you read it wrong. The one time, I know he clocked another car and I was easiest to get. The other, I was trying to let him pass me as he was tailgating me. The other, same thing, treading on me as I drove home @ 0830 in the morning, from work.

When I am guilty, I take my lumps and suck it up. When I am treaded upon by over-officious jerks, I fill fight, in the proper forum of course.

Dude in Milwaukee was a real criminal, not some bubble baby like myself.

Bad analogy on both our parts.

Probably what I should have said:

Why we can't have anything nice in this country. The crooks are out there escalating things, police are on edge... You actually want to carry outside the four walls of your castle? Cross paths w/a cop and you got a lot of explaining to do Lucy... Simply not worth the hassle, who knows what pretext they will pull you over. You got more chance dealing w/them on a routine traffic stop than dealing w/a bad guy. Unless, you live in that part of N.McSquawky. Then, it is a 50/50 crap shoot.

Dumbest Movie Ever? Why Is That a Gun in Your Pocket is a Hollywood Pipe Dream

Posted by Kemberlee Kaye

is-that-a-gun-in-your-pocket-117011-160x

The film’s official website provides the following synopsis:

If there’s one thing that the men of Rockford Texas love as much as their women, it’s their guns. But when a gun incident at a neighborhood school spurs one stay at home mom, Jenna (Andrea Anders), to rethink Rockford’s obsessive gun culture, life in this idyllic town is turned upside-down.

The trailer being an indicator, the women of Rockford band together and decide to withhold sex until their husbands agree to part ways with their true objects of affection — their firearms.

Beyond the obvious idiocy of the plot line is the simple little fact that no self-respecting Texan woman would ever do such a thing. Why? We fully understand the best way to avoid victimhood is to shoot back. We’ve also been raised with guns of all kinds for all purposes.

And that “obsessive gun culture,” well, it keeps us safer than states and cities who’s laws speak to irrational fear of inanimate objects. Take Plano, Texas for example. It’s one of the most heavily armed cities in the country and has an incredibly low murder rate. El Paso, situated along the contentious Texas/Mexico border, too is safe and you would know their gun laws are super lax too.

But it’s not like I expect those pushing an agenda to give a damn about facts.

The tired and patronizing “all southerners are morons incapable of understanding their own idiocy” meme is sure to pack theaters down south…

Dream on, Hollywood.
