Here's a guess. One of the earlier links about these kids, maybe by you, stated that they were told to stay home by their parents but they left anyway and went to a dangerous area to play. Maybe instead of playing soccer with them and trying to get a "scoop" the doofus reporter should have told them to go home.

or maybe he was just kicking a soccer ball with them on a beach and felt it unthinkable that anyone would attack a group of 4 kids playing. talk about displaced blame! Edited by birdog1960

I did not blame him for the deaths. You seem to have major issues with reading comprehension.

I speculated that maybe he got pulled off the assignment for stupidly playing soccer with kids on a beach known to be dangerous. I don't know whether he did or not, thus my use of the word "guess". What I do know s that he is a stupid man. He knew he was in a dangerous area reporting on a war. He may have known from talking with the kids that they had been forbidden from being there. His next choice was to play soccer with them in a war zone. Does that make him responsible for their death? No. Does it make him stupid? Yes. Should it have gotten him removed from the assignment? Not enough information really, but if he knew they had been forbidden by their parents from being there and then played with them anyway, I would fire him.

NBC's statement explaining the reporter's removal: "over the last 2 weeks, mohyeldis' reporting has been more balanced and even-handed than the standard pro-Israel coverage that dominates established american press coverage; his reports have provided context to the conflict that is missing from most american reports and he avoids adopting israeli talking points as truth. as a result, neocon and "pro israeli" websites have repeatedly attacked him as a "hamas spokesman" and spouting "pro hamas" rants. http://www.businessi...za-strip-2014-7

Well, NBC is the one that pulled him from there.

This:

Over the last two weeks, Mohyeldin’s reporting has been far more balanced and even-handed than the standard pro-Israel coverage that dominates establishment American press coverage; his reports have provided context to the conflict that is missing from most American reports and he avoids adopting Israeli government talking points as truth. As a result, neocon and “pro-Israel” websites have repeatedly attacked him as a “Hamas spokesman” and spouting “pro-Hamas rants.

does not appear to be a quote from NBC as you falsely assert due to lack of reading comprehension skills or purposeful deception. It is from this story by an oufit called The Intercept and the opinion of someone there, not a quote attributed to anyone at NBC.

Other than the NY Post op-ed page, where exactly does this exist, much less dominate? Can you provide links to the MSM sites you are referring to?

Thanks!

I've pretty much heard only about those 4 kids that died on the beach including on the front page at Haaretz but birddog only seems pro-Israeli coverage.

He attributed that quote to NBC but it was not from NBC. It was from The Intercept and it is their opinion. Of course that is their right but nothing in their article the oh-so-eerie threats etc. are from Kyle Drennen at Newsbusters, who is as you know, very influential and a household name. The "pro-Hamas" rant article was posted in 2012 on RealClear politics and seems unlikely to be a reason for the reporter's removal.......since it was published 18 months before this incident.

you're right. i misread it but i certanly agree with the statement. perhaps nbc will explain the security risk issue in some other manner but it was naive to think they'd admit bias.

Basically talking palistinean holocaust at this point. With no one monitoring Israel and their built in excuse of "targeting terrorists" there's really no amount of civilian deaths that are too many. Netanyahu is thumbing his nose up at the world and humanity.

"In all, 260 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed since the fighting, which has destroyed or damaged hundreds of homes, began on July 8, Gaza officials said.

Palestinian health officials said 27 Palestinians, including a baby, two children and a 70-year-old woman, had been killed since Israel sent ground forces into the densely-populated strip of 1.8 million Palestinians on Thursday."

Even though they weren't involved and netanyahu scapegoated them for the kidnappings ... Something they denied and no evidence has been presented. Netanyahu arrested hundreds of them and then killed some in Gaza. He instigated this, no doubt. Seriously you jackass why don't you do some research before spouting more crap

If only you could read. From your own article:

Hostilities were stoked by the killing of three Israeli teens in the occupied West Bank last month and the death on July 2 of a Palestinian youth in a suspected revenge murder. Israel briefly held fire on Tuesday after Egypt, which also borders Gaza, announced a truce plan. But Hamas and other militants balked saying their conditions had been ignored, including an end to an Israeli and Egyptian blockade of the enclave. Hamas leaders have talked up their "tunnel campaign" against Israel. One publicity video showed Palestinian fighters hauling rockets through a narrow passage to load onto a launcher that appears buried in an orchard. It is then fired remotely after its mechanised cover slides open.

Hope your "conditions" are worth the hundreds of your civilians lives, you morons. This is Japan refusing the surrender to the US in WW2 all over again.

Point is who provoked it and its clearly netanyahu. You have no clue about politics and recent history. Japan is an absolute silly referance. What are the Palestineana going to surrender to? Japan got their country back. What do palestineams get? The right for more west bank settlements on stolen land? The right for Israel to shell kids on the beach with absolutely no consequences?

So they can't win? They're choosing to "die on their feet instead of living on their knees?" Is that it? Then they should stop complaining about dying.

Hamas could have ended hostilities two days ago. They didn't, and the Palestinians in Gaza didn't rise up and force them to. They made their bed. It sucks that innocent kids are dying, but that happens in war. The threat to Israeli kids is just as real.

And if you think, for one second, that if all Palestinians ended hostilities today and Israel kept attacking civilians, that public opinion wouldn't sway dramatically, you're crazy. Israel gets away with civilian casualties because the Palestinians are attacking them.

You dumb mother!@#$er.

Less than 10 years ago, Israel opened Gaza. Israel forcably removed every single Jewish settler from Gaza and withdrew it's military. It furthered that goodwill with economic and agricultural aid and assistence, hoping that a two state peaceful partnership would emerge.

The Palestinians rewarded them by electing Hamas, an extremist group bent on the destruction of Israel, and destroying the aid, then militarizing the entire territory.

That's all there was to it? Really? You left out the blockade and everything that comes along with it.

The circular argument. The blockade was put into place AFTER Hamas came into power by election. It was also put into place by Egypt on the Rafa end.

Tell me why there aren't activists trying to open the border on the Egypt side?

This is why the conflict will never end. Because it's like arguing with a chick who you cheated on because she cheated on you first.

That Egypt thing is just a bogus, racist, biased argument. Egypt didn't want a million+ refugees pouring thru their borders, they have their own problems. If you're saying palis are inherently bad for that reason, then how about jews who were repeatedly expelled from various European countries?
