John from Riverside Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Because I'd like to see honest and open debate about this football team. And as the years have passed that's become an endangered species, replaced with those who rarely, if ever, question the team. Worse, a clear intolerance has developed of those who have a contrarian opinion and back it up with data. I'm not sold on EJ. I'm not sold on this coaching staff. And for the media to express doubt is not altogether outrageous. It's been said here for years: Winning answers questions and the Bills haven't done that. And every year we see people who get excited only to be left disappointed. I'll temper my expectations based on the questions I have of this team and their decisions. If you dont think there are enough posters that question this football team then your just flat out not looking at the boards......it is FLOODED with posters who are down on this team.....show me the baby.....its no different till the record says so......everyone sucks until they show they arent.....etc etc etc The problem is.....you just cant lump what is going in last year with what has been going on since the last time the bills made the playoffs....why?.....because the DECISION MAKERS are different. - Coaches are different....and by different i dont mean different retread couldnt win a super bowl somewhere else different. When was the last time we hired a college coach (and a sought after one) its been a while? - Our GM looks like he could suit up and go out and play (whaley) and why I point that out is that the jokes of decision makers being too old to stay up late and wake up early jokes are gone. A forward thinking young fresh GM who quite frankly knocked last years draft out of the park and was aggressive and chance taking in THIS years draft. Its ok to take a wait and see attitude with this team.....they have earned that. But to lump what has been going on lately with the years of futility preceding is just lazy thinking.

I am good with this post Mr Hemet. I have become a Whaley admirer rather quickly. But not blindly i must assure everyone of that. But to the OP i cant flip anyone off. I am too old for that attitude of confrontation. Hell someone might punch me in the nose ! I want the Bills to just get their respect the honest way . By earning it .
Bill from NYC Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That is a joke. You were given exactly that opportunity with my post on the previous page, and your response speaks volumes. I disagree. BV said that he doesn't trust EJ and the coaching staff. What should we do? Lecture him about why he should? What we know about EJ is that he has God given talent. We also know that he can throw picks and get his ass kicked. We knew the same about RJ and Losman (although I don't think JP was as smart as EJ). What we know about Marrone is that he was horrible at challenges and clock management. The above worries me more than losing Kiko, and I am a huge fan of his. Sure, they were both rookies, so this leaves us with hope, right? But we always have hope entering a season. Well, almost every season. In any event, I think you and others are being rough on BV who imo raises valid points for discussion.

And every year we see people who get excited only to be left disappointed. I'll temper my expectations based on the questions I have of this team and their decisions. Honestly... Can ANYONE be sold on EJ or this coaching staff?? I agree... I haven't seen what I need to see to be sold... I have seen enough to be optimistic... Can you tell me that you are sincerely not even the least bit optimistic about where we are headed?? Yes where they were last year at THIS time. We didn't have Kiko nor know how he would turn out. I feel his loss will be HUGE if Brown doesn't step up and put up a Kiko like performance on the outside. We had Byrd for a chunk of the season and will have him for none of it this year. We dont' know still how the NFL will handle Dareus. I'll just say it again, losing Kiko is huge, and if EJ doesn't step up big time and start performing like a Collin K, Russell Wilson, etc then we are screwed AND its time to move on from him. Too many young QB's doing well by the end of year 2 now. I still disagree... We lost Byrd... Yes... But AW has proven as a very capable replacement... And behind him, we have questions along with a little depth that will play out... I agree that EJ has to step up his game... But comparing him to Wilson and CP is a bit silly... They each have had their big games here and there, but aside from that, they typically have 50 yards rushing and 250ish passing...it seems to me that you were implying that he needed to step up "big time" to get to where those QB's are... That's not a big time step... Difference is supporting cast and defense Wilson was ranked 16th and CP was ranked 20th last season.. Manuel was 29, after missing several games... We got this, lol

Bill, the issue is about whether the Bills are in a better or worse position heading into this season than they were last season. There are specific, incontrovertible facts that suggest they are, but some stubbornly refuse to acknowledge them. BV is one of them. All he wants to talk about is how bad the personnel decisions in the past have been. I laid out some very specific statements earlier in this thread, and they have been largely ignored because they don't fit BV's agenda. That's not open and honest debate -- that's a guy on a crusade. I'm out of this thread. Have a great day.
Tsaikotic Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 Prolly would have got the Browns too if EJ wasn't hurt............11-5 actually I think the worse thing we did in that game was to take out there QB..as soon as the second QB came in the Browns started to roll on us
Kellyto83TD Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 Camp starts in about 10 Days Thank God. HOF Game 2 weeks after I believe. Lets get this thing going! We really need to jump out to a good starting record because those 4 games in Dec...
