Miyagi-Do Karate Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 Congrats! I have never heard of "beach wrestling"-- stupid question, but is it like regular high school wrestling rules, but just done on a beach?
boyst Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 That's pretty cool! Indiana Beach wrestling, though? Sounds funny. What does he weigh, by the way? And does he wrestle for school?
1billsnut Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Congrats! I have never heard of "beach wrestling"-- stupid question, but is it like regular high school wrestling rules, but just done on a beach? It is in the sand...normally done on the beach by the Ohio river but this year moved do to bridge construction. It is scored kinda like sumo wrestling..1pt for push out...1 pt for takedown....2 pts for a takedown straight to the back. They paint a circle in the sand and the first guy to 2 pts wins. It was our first experience with it too....it was really cool, and i think being outside made it alot less of a "stressfull" tournament. That's pretty cool! Indiana Beach wrestling, though? Sounds funny. What does he weigh, by the way? And does he wrestle for school? He weighs about 109...hopefully will make 106 this next year for his freshman year.....would be a lot better than 113. He does wrestle for school...had a good season in Jr High this year... Had. GREAT season in freestyle after the Jr High season, and been to 2 camps already this summer and going to 1 more in a couple of weeks. His hard work is really starting to pay off....again...PROUD PAPA!😊😊
Johnny Hammersticks Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I'm probably going to get a warning point for this, but was there hot oil involved in any way?

Also, if he enjoys wrestling a lot; send him West to the Univ. of Iowa Wrestling Training camp. A very hard two weeks but an experience of a lifetime. Also, there is the Jeff Jordan State Champ camp in Ohio that is a regional favorite - it is just west of Dayton in a small elementary school in the middle of no where. Just for fun - 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 275.

Wrestling is a great sport...glad your boy is doing well.

We went to the Purler camp in MO a couple of weeks ago....GREAT camp, will probably go back next year. A whole week of drilling with zero live wrestling..they just drill it into your head the proper way..I have already noticed a huge difference in him.
Wayne Cubed Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I wrestled 103 in junior high, then through a growth spurt was up to 119 when I got into high school. And then it became a pain to make weight. Congrats to your son!
