Where are they going find a basketball venue that holds 35k? Where did they play prior to the Carrier Dome? They could have possibly fit that many people inside a normal arena. Also... The dome doesn't have A/C, right? What gives with its name then? It is named after the cooling company, right?
Johnny Hammersticks Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Prior to the Carrier Dome, Syracuse basketball played their games at Manley Field House which could hold approximately 9,500 fans.
PromoTheRobot Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 This is a prelude to asking the state to build them a new stadium. A private school gets a state-funded stadium while SUNY Buffalo gets bupkis.
PastaJoe Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Also... The dome doesn't have A/C, right? What gives with its name then? It is named after the cooling company, right? Carrier payed SU $2.75 million in 1980 for the permanent naming rights, back when they actually manufactured in Syracuse. They didn't install AC because it was intended to be used just during the school year when it's not too hot. Now the manufacturing is gone but the name remains.

Wow, that blows (some seriously cold air)! ;-)
