I'm just going to accept the inevitability that the NFL will be moving the Bills to a bigger market. It's our own damned fault for producing crap for 14 straight seasons.

"Under terms of the team's lease with the state and county, the Bills — including Wilson's estate — are not allowed to negotiate with anyone, who to their knowledge, has an intention of relocating the team before the end of the 2022 season, when the lease ends."

I hope they are paying attention to that report!

They reportedly explored Toronto sites 18 months ago. I'm sure they will just claim that those sites were explored before the terms were known and now they are "committed to keeping the team in Buffalo" (my arse)

this could actually be good news. whoever anonymously released this to the media could potentially screw over the toronto groups bid considering this is pretty clear intent to relocate at some point in the future. their mission is obviously lie about intentions now, get the team, then worry about relocation later

This is actually great news, IMO. It brings it out in the open. It gives even more credence to the concept that there is no chance in hell the NFL is going to approve the sale to a group of owners, with an intent to move the team after the lease is up, which would create a lame duck team for 7-8 years. It's virtually impossible.

such BS, but that probably is a decent claim by them. "oh now we are dedicated to keeping the bills in buffalo" ya right.

@ByTimGraham: It won't help their cause RT @SujanVyas Wouldn't this automatically disqualify them from a bid in the eyes of the trust?

wait, won't help JBJ's cause or ours? Damn you vague pronouns.

Perhaps they get around it by saying the stadium plans are for post 2022

How much clearer do we need it?

18 months ago the plan was to relocate the team--now it's not (not voluntarily--their hand is being forced).

And honestly, do we need to be having this same discussion in 3 separate threads?

They will relocate in 2020. That's not that far off in terms of getting a new stadium built. So this is relevant.

And yes we should be discssing this in every thread. It's the most important topic in Buffalo Bills history

. I linked the article in a few applicable threads instead of making a new thread.

No, they won't:

"Under terms of the team's lease with the state and county, the Bills — including Wilson's estate — are not allowed to negotiate with anyone, who to their knowledge, has an intention of relocating the team before the end of the 2022 season, when the lease ends."

And either way, these investigations took place 18 months ago--as a few folks have said, the landscape has changed. They don't have the option to move the team the way they thought they would, hence they are now looking at WNY sites.

Bottom line with this story is that the people that believe the team is moving will still believe it, while those that don't won't.

There's no new information here.

The Toronto firm who looked at sites is meeting with Buffalo next week.

Possibly opinion, but purchaser may be identified by late August.
