PromoTheRobot Posted June 18, 2014 Author Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) The last appeal took 4 years to conclude, so 4 more years of Redskins... 4 more years of whining about the "disparaging" name.... America is turning very soft.... congratuations. Pretty soon, the government will tell you what you can eat, can drink, etc for X reason or someone got offended. Glad I'm older so I don't have to spend more time in THAT America. I always get a chuckle from people that feel like this. We should all be able to do whatever we want, when ever we want, until that thing starts messing up your lifestyle. Then congress has to pass a law to stop it. Edited June 18, 2014 by PromoTheRobot
LB3 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 It is always comical to me seeing the people that are offended by others being offended. Well.... I'm offended that you're offended that they're offended.
Jauronimo Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 We need to get rid of trademarks and licenses if we're going to compete with the Chinese counterfeit apparel industry. My only concern is that this will be the beginning of a brutal trade war at a time when tensions between the two nations are already pretty high.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I can see RG stepping in now and I can also see Snyder caving as Im sure he will want to own a team name thats trademarked CBF
Malazan Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't think the patent office should be making decisions based on political or moral reasons.
26CornerBlitz Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 @JasonLaCanfora I kind of like the sound of the Washington Wishful Thinkers. What about you? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24591552/us-patent-office-cancels-redskins-trademark-registration …
Brandon Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't think the patent office should be making decisions based on political or moral reasons. Nor do I, but then again, they're making it up as they go in DC these days, anyway, so the Patent Office may as well get in on the act, too.
26CornerBlitz Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't think the patent office should be making decisions based on political or moral reasons. There's nothing new about denying TM applications on these grounds: consists of or includes matter which may disparage or bring into contempt or disrepute persons, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols
Malazan Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 There's nothing new about denying TM applications on these grounds: They didn't deny an application
26CornerBlitz Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 They didn't deny an application That we know. They canceled it based on a complaint along the same lines.
TheZone78 Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 It is always comical to me seeing the people that are offended by others being offended. Well.... I'm offended that you're offended that they're offended. Your statement offended me.
Dirtbag Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I don't think the patent office should be making decisions based on political or moral reasons. actually, they can and should make decisions based on moral reasoning: "Since 1905 federal trademark law has banned the registration of scandalous or immoral marks. In 1947, marks that may disparage, bring into contempt or disrepute persons, institutions, beliefs, or national symbols were also banned. U.S. trademark law is not unique in prohibiting the registration of offensive trademarks. Many other countries’ trademark laws contain similar provisions." more: http://blog.constitutioncenter.org/2013/11/racial-slurs-and-football-team-names-what-does-trademark-law-say/
26CornerBlitz Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Still in the River of Denial. Give it up lil' danny. @WillBrinson Redskins say patent ruling: "Will have no effect at all on the team’s ownership of and right to use the Redskins name/logo"
YoloinOhio Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 PFTCommenter @PFTCommenter 1h Renaming the redskins "The Redskins, no offense" woud solve this patent"problem" and be a acurate description of the onfield product as well
WestSenecaNJ Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Is this really something that the Federal Government needs to be involved in? Name calling? Sticks and stones........ Yuck! What a bunch of 98lb. weaklings we have become.
