DC Tom
and you say Bush was an idiot? Up to the fall of the Soviet Union, US foreign policy in the Middle East was only coherent because it had the Cold War as a guiding principle. Since then, only Bush has had a foreign policy in the Middle East that came close to being coherent...because he had the "War on Terrorism" as a guiding principle. As it lead to the ill-informed, ill-advised, immensely costly invasion of Iraq, adding over $1 trillion to our debt. Obama's problem was thinking he could straddle the fence by giving the neocons some, but not everything they wanted. Like in Syria, not full out invasion, but material support of the "rebels." Well here's the side we supported in Syria, turned loose in Iraq ... warning not pretty (war never is). Like in Syria, not full out invasion, but material support of the "rebels." Yeah, because Obama is all about reaching across the aisle... Clearly the Syria indecision was because he wanted to placate neocons, not that he's an inept tool who was backtracking from a really stupid comment he made and refused to back up. Yeah right that would have been great had we taken out Assad like the Saudis were begging. Then the entire country of Syria would be in the hands of ISIS, and not just Iraq but Lebanon would be under complete siege too.

truth on hold
so now the Syrian air force is doing what the US has been considering, bombing ISIS (the rebels we supported in Syria) in western Iraq to assist the Iraqi forces. It was even assumed to initially be US drones..... Syrian aircraft bomb Sunni militant targets inside Iraq Syrian government aircraft bombed Sunni militant targets inside Iraq on Tuesday, further broadening the Middle Eastern crisis a day after Israeli warplanes and rockets struck targets inside Syria. Iraqi state media initially reported that the attacks near Iraq’s western border with Syria were carried out by U.S. drones, a claim that was quickly and forcefully denied by the Pentagon. http://www.washingto...35f1_story.html Edited June 25, 2014 by Joe_the_6_pack
truth on hold
A "10" on the peter meter circle jerk .... sending half billion in weapons to Syrian "rebels" (high risk of course they end up in isis's hands), to fight against Assad, who's dropping bombs on isis in Iraq, mimicking what we're preparing to do ....
