Captain Caveman Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Not really. You can't compare apples to oranges, then when someone calls you on it, swap pears in instead. He just did.
mead107 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I would like to sell my house for a million. Got to be some sucker in this world .
Kelly the Dog Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 The Braves did not turn into the Celtics. There has been a Boston Celtics team in Boston forever. They have had many owners. The swap of ownership and teams did not eliminate the old Celtics and replace them with the Braves. They were still the Celtics and had mostly the same players. When a few Braves players were added to the team, still coached by the same guy, the Celtics still had Dave Cowens, Jojo White, Rick Robey, Curtis Rowe, Don Chaney, Cedric Maxwell, etc, the same core team. The NBA considers the Braves franchise to have become the Clippers.
Ted William's frozen head Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 And tickets @ MSG for the Rangers-Kings Cup Finals are going for 1700 bucks a pop. It just shows how stupid, stupid, stupid people are. Who wants to fork over 1700 bucks to watch their team lose The Cup on home ice? ;-P Anyway... 2 billion is grossly inflated... They had to make an offer Sterling couldn't refuse. Just goes to show that there are multi-billionaires out there that can sign a check in a heartbeat and like to throw money around, even if they are spending double what the true value is worth... Imagine throwing away $1 BILLION+ because you can? True F.O./F.U.$$$$$$
MRW Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 He just did. True enough. I guess I just had an unstated "and expect people to take you seriously" at the end of that. Although he probably could do that too. My head's starting to hurt.
machine gun kelly Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Maybe you should look up the NFL revenue figures. More than 80% of total revenue is from shared league sources, which means that the teams get 1/32 of every dollar spent in that area. So the new owner would only be able to increase a small portion of his revenue pool. That's why no one is jumping up to move a team to LA. The biggest benefits to being in the market are revenues that you will only see 1/32 of. Correct. The lower markets like Buffalo will still net about $30 mil / yr., amd the larger markets like Dallas net $55-65 mil / yr. as the TV money goes up in a year, there is a split increased, part to the players, and the rest to the owners. With the increased revenue beyond next year meaning, the 8 games from CBS will go out to bid the next year to all of the networks and for all 16 games, this will be another revenue stream. The Bills can be very profitable in Buffalo, NF, or wherever in the local market.

Formerly Allan in MD Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Buffalo pro sports teams have been cursed in so many ways over the years. But the biggest curse by far was Paul Snyder and what he did to a Braves team and the people of Buffalo, all in the interests of lining his already deep pockets. Not many may remember but he even had a young Moses Malone for about 24 hours. What a team that would have been if it had been kept intact - Randy Smith, McAdoo, Dantley, Ernie Di, Bob Kauffman (injuries ruined him), Malone etc.
bbb Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Don't forget Jim McMillian. At least for now. Tomorrow could be another story. Exactly
