Reid on the Ropes: He May Not Even Be MINORITY Leader After Tuesday

we'll see........

There's something wrong with any elected official that wants to stay in office until the age of 82. Says Reid has no life outside of politics. Sad.

2014: AN ELECTION ABOUT NOTHING? No, it’s an election about everything.

Not only is this election not about nothing, it is being fought over exactly the kinds of things that ought to determine our elections.

It’s about the size and scope of government. It’s about the rule of law. It’s about the security of the citizenry. It’s about competence. It’s about integrity. It’s about honor.

It’s about a government that makes promises to those who have defended the country and then fails those veterans, again and again and again. It’s about a president who offers soothing reassurances on his sweeping health care reforms and shrugs his shoulders when consumers learn those assurances were fraudulent. It’s about government websites that cost billions but don’t function and about “smart power” that isn’t very smart. It’s about an administration that cares more about ending wars than winning them, and that claims to have decimated an enemy one day only to find that that enemy is still prosecuting its war against us the next. It’s about shifting red lines and failed resets. It’s about a president who ignores restrictions on his power when they don’t suit him and who unilaterally rewrites laws that inconvenience him. It’s about a powerful federal agency that targets citizens because of their political beliefs and a White House that claims ignorance of what its agents are up to because government is too “vast.” In sum, this is an election about a president who promised to restore faith in government and by every measure has done the opposite.

As even Barack Obama acknowledges, the upcoming election is about his policies and those elected officials who have supported them. It’s about an electorate determined to hold someone responsible for the policy failures that have defined this administration and the scandals that have consumed it—even if many in the fourth estate will not.

And it’s about time.

Yes, pundits calling it an “election about nothing” are just covering for Obama, as they’ve done since 2007.

Oh really? If the GOP wins big, what then? Why will that make a big difference?

The first big difference you will see are all the bi-partisan bills sent to the Senate that were sat on by Harry Reid.

What, oh what, will Obama do without Harry Reid to cover for him?

So the big change is going to be more vetoes? Wow!

Forward! :bag:

For starters, Congress will stop being compromised by Harry Reid, who will no longer be able to block all legislation advanced by the House by refusing to bring it up for a vote.

That's a pretty big difference.

I guess I should have read to the bottom of the thread.

Hurrah! That really is a big change. What a revolution in America. Your very narrow partisan wants are really great changes for our country. Congrats

You know what's really funny? If the GOP takes the Senate, there is an excellent chance you'll see the most broad example of "addition by subtraction" you'll ever witnessed in your lifetime. Simply removing Harry Reid from Obama's buttclench will be tremendous.

But hey...don't feel bad. I hear you can get a copy of Wendy Davis' book real cheap, and it will make for good reading while you wait for Hillary to run.

Oh great, the Fox news, Rush Limbo, right wing partisans can celebrate the humbling of a liberal politician. But really, how will this move the country forward?

There's nothing partisain about it, further, as you well know, I'm not a Republican.

And it would be a revolutionary change in government. The Democrat party would no longer be able to obstruct all legislation, including both Democrat initiated and other bi-partisain legislation, and blame the other party for it.

It would allow bi-partisain legislation to advance, and allow Congress to do the work of the people they represent, which is the opposite of partisain politics.

Humbling? That's rich.

Here's a nice article from MARCH about all the bills stalled by Harry Reid, and the headline? House Dems to Senate: Pass Our Bills.

I think the reason Obama keeps Reid around is so there is always someone else nearby who is equally as lazy and incompetent.

His strategy was to table all bills so that Senate Republicans couldn't add any amendments to bills, which would force Senate Democrats to vote on those amendments. Everything was about protecting the President, rather than legislating and leading.

It was the ultimate act of party before country.

Overheard four times in the past week here by several groups of people thinking of entirely different backgrounds. More or less a statement of:

"These elections are not that important in our state but all these ads say that _____ candidate has all of this money coming to support them from out of state."

It's mind boggling.

No. The really big change is taking away the excuse you and every other leftist clown has been using since 2010.

The real queston is what are you/they going to do now? What are you going to post after such an obvious repudiation of your ideas by a plurality of Americans?

You can no longer blame the House for "blocking due being Republican". Which was always absurd, since they aren't the ones doing the blocking; but that absurdity ends tomorrow.

You can no longer deny that Congress could have been doing all sorts of things, once Harry "Obstacle" Reid is out of power, and all sorts of things end up on Obama's desk.

But let's get down to the real point here: Why has Harry Reid been blocking legislation this entire time?

Answer: first, to protect Congresional Democrats from votes before the 2010 election, then, to protect Obama and all elected Ds from tough votes in 2012, finally to protect them from tough votes before this election.

All this blocking and protecting....and what is it going to get them? The exact opposite of what they want. Once again, if you want something done right, put the far left in charge of doing the opposite!

The reason the "s/he was the deciding vote on Obamacare" charge is still working...5 years later? Answer: Because the Democrats haven't voted on anything important since! Their record is comprised solely of "I support Obama in all things, or at least 97% of the time". How is anyon supposed to run on that? If this election is about nothing....that is because Harry Reid has brought NOTHING to a vote!

Do you now see how Harry Reid(on orders from Valerie Jarret, I almost guarantee) has screwed you in the long run? Do you see how inept this entire strategy was?

Or are you too dim? Come on. Think objectively. Not voting on anything in the Senate, not even passing a damn budget, has left every Democrat exactly where they were in 2010: with Obamacare hanging around their necks, and literally nothing else to talk about.

Except about how Republicans are Racist®, hate women, and the Palins got in a fight. Quite the Democratic platform

What "bi-partisan" legislation do you expect to pass??

Oh, I see, this election ends excuses. Great. Now the House and the Senate can pass real legislation. Like...
