DC Tom Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I look forward to the next President referring to our servicemen and women as such. Charles Lane: Fascinating how Obama recasts Bergdahl as a “child.” Uses word four times to describe him. Shameless Putting children in uniform is a war crime, in fact.
Deranged Rhino Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Uh, why does this now seem to be the thing to do? According to the article you linked prior to my statement (which was certainly meant with some humor) the Taliban now want "valuable birds", not useless people. I take that to mean soldiers or Americans who serve in an official capacity.
Maury Ballstein Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 @LexGrayWAVY: Six of Bowe Bergdahl's former platoon mates say he should be court-martialed and tried. Hear their strong words on @WAVY_News this morning.
B-Man Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 A Problem with O By Jay Nordlinger FTA: One of the things I like least about his statements regarding the Bergdahl swap is their simplism. (There’s a word you don’t hear every day.) Their refusal to acknowledge complexity. Sergeant Bergdahl is somebody’s child, we don’t leave anyone behind, and that’s that. If only he could acknowledge trade-offs, in a messy, wicked world: a world of difficult and excruciating choices. If only he could say, “Sometimes you have to hold your nose,” or, “Yes, there were competing demands and principles here,” or, “I understand the concern over the release of those terrorists” — but he cannot, apparently. Worse, he portrays any critic as either a moron or a cretin. For eight years of Ronald Reagan and eight years of George W. Bush, I heard the same thing: “The president is simplistic. Everything is black-and-white to him. There is no nuance.” That wasn’t true. Before the invasion of Iraq, for example, Bush said over and over, “There are risks of action and risks of inaction.” He had to weigh those risks. In Obama’s mind, however, everything seems to be clear-cut, inarguable. There is no gray at all. It’s his way or the highway. Before he was elected, we were assured that, whatever his policy views, he had a first-class temperament. I think I like his temperament even less than his views. .

Has anyone worked for a manager that led that way? Sucked didn't it.
Dante Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 His way or the highway. Has anyone worked for a manager that led that way? Sucked didn't it. Have experienced that before. I've never experienced one that by all indications hates his own company and it's heritage. Never had one that routinely broke the rules of the company. Never.
B-Man Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Report: Released Taliban Commander Says He’ll Continue to Fight Against America State Department Admits There Was No Specific Threat Requiring Them to Hide Bergdahl Swap from Congress That Didn’t Take Long: North Korea Detains U.S. Tourist for ‘Crimes’ One of the concerns over the Bowe Bergdahl prisoner swap has been that it would encourage America’s enemies to take more hostages. Time magazine reported that when it asked a top Taliban commander if his forces would be inspired by the exchange to kidnap others, he actually laughed. “Definitely.” It may be completely unrelated, but the North Korean regime — no stranger to hostage-taking — announced it detained American tourist Jeffrey Edward Fowle on unspecified charges. Two other Americans are already being held captive by North Korea. One is Matthew Miller, whom the North Koreans claim tried to enter the county “as a shelter” and seek asylum. The other is Korean-American missionary Kenneth Bae, who was sentenced to 15 years in hard labor last year for “hostile acts against the state.” “There is no greater priority for us than the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad. We have no additional information to share at this time,” a State Department official told the Associated Press. What he neglected to add is that the Bergdahl prisoner swap carries with it the danger that the “welfare and safety” of MORE Americans will be endangered because of Obama’s hasty and ill-thought-out action.
Nanker Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Meanwhile, back home, 96 million Americans are out of work. But the good news is we've opened the borders so more people with no credentials can now become your community members! "We're going to fundamentally transform America," B.O. said, to the euphoric delight of his supporters.

(There’s a word you don’t hear every day.) Their refusal to acknowledge complexity. Sergeant Bergdahl is somebody’s child, we don’t leave anyone behind, and that’s that. Ambassadors must be orphans, because if we leave them behind what difference does it make? In Obama’s mind, however, everything seems to be clear-cut, inarguable. There is no gray at all. It’s his way or the highway. Before he was elected, we were assured that, whatever his policy views, he had a first-class temperament. I think I like his temperament even less than his views. "If you like your insurance, you can keep it. Period." "I intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt." "If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made it happen." "It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Obama simply mistakes simplification for leadership and strength. Acknowledging complexity would show weakness. "Issues are never simple. One thing I'm proud of is that very rarely will you hear me simplify the issues."
B-Man Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 O’s Bergdahl Straw Men This is more than a “whipped-up controversy.” What ‘Swift-Boating’ Means It’s what soldiers do when they feel betrayed. House Intel Chairman: Gitmo Release Was ‘Not the Only Option’ to Get Bergdahl Back
IDBillzFan Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 House Intel Chairman: Gitmo Release Was ‘Not the Only Option’ to Get Bergdahl Back There will come a moment when everyone will understand that the reason given for cutting the deal -- that Bergdahl's life was suddenly in danger -- is a lie, and that will be the moment when Barack Obama's thin-skinned self-absorbed incompetence will finally be seen and accepted by the small part of America who thinks Barry is a smart leader.
Keukasmallies Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I'm not sure LABillzFan is correct; that time will come (has come for most of us), but I fear there is no changing the minds of the groupies for whom POTUS simply (no pun intended) can't make a mistake, misstep, mis-statement, etc.

She's too smart to think she'll do well by saying her plan is to continue the eight years of ineptitude left behind by Obama.
IDBillzFan Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 So, when does Barry come out of the closet? If history tells us anything, it'll be right before his next fundraising trip to California.
Koko78 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 If history tells us anything, it'll be right before his next fundraising trip to California. Nonsense, it will only be after extensive focus group testing, just like all of his other 'nuanced' policy choices to reverse a previously-stated position. The announcement will also be on a Friday, after yet another major scandal involving his incompetence is breaking.
