Cheney said on “Hannity” he has spoken with many people in the Middle East who believe Obama’s leadership has reduced American’s influence overseas. “They all are absolutely convinced that the American capacity to lead and influence in that part of the world has been dramatically reduced by this president,” he said. “We’ve got a problem with weakness, and it’s centered right in the White House.” Cheney said Obama’s plan to remove all troops from Afghanistan by 2016, instead of negotiating an agreement to keep some troops in the country, is an example of his weakness. “That’s stupid, it’s unwise, and it will in fact just reinforce the notion that we’re weak, that we’ve got a leader who doesn’t understand U.S. obligations and commitments around the world and is not prepared to act on them,” he said. Cheney said Obama is “totally ignoring” why the U.S. invaded Afghanistan. “It’s as though he wasn’t even around when 9/11 happened,” he said. Of course, the only people who will pay attention to the content of Cheney's interview are the ones that figured all this out before this interview. Everyone else will turn around and say that it's Bush's and Cheney's fault: they weakened our influence, and Obama just hasn't undone the damage yet, and if Obama's weakened our influence so much how come the international community gave him a Nobel Peace Prize? 3rdnlng
Didn't he receive the Nobel Peace Prize before he was even elected the first time? Edit: October 2009 is when he "won" it. http://www.nobelpriz...2009/press.html The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons. Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened. Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population. For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges." I'm going to nominate gatorman, for his contributions to raising awareness of the difficulties faced by the mentally challenged. Nomination Committee Chairman, Thorbjorn Jagland, stated the award was given to President Obama because "we are hoping this may contribute a little bit for what he is trying to do," preemptively working to assist him on his Presidential foreign policy goals of openly embracing the Muslim world, nonnuclear proliferation, and economic climate change initiatives. In other words, it wasn't just for what the President said he'd like to do, it was to help him accomplish those goals. Basically just a big, "GABBA GABBA ONE OF US", from European Socialists. B-Large
Made us look weak around world... I don't know, Nation still respect the US miltary might and that will not end any time soon. 3rdnlng
Vladimir Putin was nominated this year. I think it was for the protection of Russian speaking people in Crimea. What good does it do to have the military might but be too timid to use it? Obama's red lines in Syria were a joke and they were just additional evidence of how weak Obama is. Congress certainly didn't have the stomach for Syria.... gassed citizens in Iraq was crime against humanity, gassed Syrians not so much. If there were a legit threat to this country, or a strike against in like 9/11, I have zero doubts the president would act post haste and with striking force. IDBillzFan
Frankly, Cheney isn't saying anything that most of the free, thinking world already knows. But it's fun to watch progs pee themselves when they see the names Hannity and Cheney in the same sentence. You don't draw a line and then change it. Obama made an empty threat. Other people see this and react accordingly. Cheney should know. Who are you directing this at and what should Cheney know? Dante
You guys are looking at this all wrong. Obama couldn't care a less how strong the US is. Militarily or otherwise. Remember that we are not exceptional and his apology tour? He couldn't give two craps about the military. His big thing is domestic and changing the way we live.First health care and then controlling land, business and our lifestyle in the name of the environment. His next big thing is housing. Changing the suburbs into a urban like dwellings built around mass transit. I forget the name of the bill or act whatever but it's something like 'The Fair Housing...." something, something I'm not sure. Obama's trial balloon may be right here in the East Bay area. http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303302504577323353434618474 I swear we have friends that live in a townhouse development that reminds me of a prison when we approach it. Built very close to BART. Maybe Chef Jim or Wanka or Vader might be familiar with this area Dublin/Pleasenton . Nice places inside but ****ty parking and claustrophobic as hell. I know I don't want to live that way.

That's mainly because the Peninsula is populated by know it all techie jackasses. LA mentioned a bit ago about how he hated it here in "tech land". He mentioned how the first question people asked was "how many Masters Degrees do you have?" He wasn't exaggerating.
