I will admit I have never heard of him. I'm working right now and a bit too lazy to look anything up about him myself. How about that for truth and honesty? Anyone heard of him? Swap Lawson for him? Win win on paper at least for schemes it would seem.
sodbuster Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Isn't that the name of one of the agents in Criminal Minds?
FluffHead Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 He was a popular candidate for the Bills first round pick the year we took spiller because he played for Gailey at Georgia tech

Why would we trade our most consistent defensive player for an underachieving player on an inflated rookie contract?..let him get released or offer a late pick
4merper4mer Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) The video in that link is about the Texans trading for Mallet to start because all they have is Fitz . "Mallet would be an instant starter in Houston" or something like that. What is that? The site trying to help NE get a draft pick for nothing? Fitz has started a lot more games than Mallet and is A LOT more proven, albeit as mediocre. Mallet is a crack head who runs like Frankenstein. Why is he a proven starter over Fitz? So NE gets a pick? Trading for the DE seems to make sense if we can trade a player like we di for Hughes last year or if it were something low. NotLawson though. Maybe Wendling if we still have him. billieve420 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 Morgan may be a cut candidate after June 1st since he does not fit in Titan's system. I am concerned about DE depth and think the Bills should be scouting the waiver wire this summer for another guy. Lawson hasn't played position since college and Jerry Hughes is a part time role player who I believe will struggle if asked to do anymore than rush the passer.
mrags Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 The website has Buffalo as a possible landing spot for Rob Housler, TE, from Arizona. not knowing anything about the guy, after a minute of that video in on board. Is he a FA?

Lawson played at the end of the line with his hand on the ground last year. That sounds like playing DE to me. The Bills called him an OLB last year, but we really played a lot of 5-2 with Lawson right up at the line.
maryland-bills-fan Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 We need a DE at abotu 285 pounds to balance Mario at the other end.
billieve420 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 All it takes is one injury and we have no one back there which is scary.

If we are running a traditional Schwartz defense that's what his primary duty would be. He's not aggressive in his blitzing, he's aggressive in telling his lineman to get upfield and leaving his MLB to clean up any running plays
3rdand12 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 All it takes is one injury and we have no one back there which is scary. Its interesting to see how this shakes out. From the fan perspective its appears we NEED someone opposite Mario in Jim S. scheme. But Lawson could seal the edge and cover a bit . Hughes can defintely rush the passer. Can coaches make good use here without getting into substitution trouble . I have been thinking they just need another body beyond what they have to call a DE . Theres alot of potential by shifting branch or dareus to end for a couple plays. Dont forget our linebackers arent thin anymore and two of them a really really good If we are running a traditional Schwartz defense that's what his primary duty would be. He's not aggressive in his blitzing, he's aggressive in telling his lineman to get upfield and leaving his MLB to clean up any running plays and they can bring searcy down too.

Agent 91 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 The website has Buffalo as a possible landing spot for Rob Housler, TE, from Arizona. He isn't too bad. Good size for athletic tight end. I wouldn't mind Housler
Max997 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 (edited) We need a DE at abotu 285 pounds to balance Mario at the other end. You don't need a DE to be that big in a 4-3 Morgan may be a cut candidate after June 1st since he does not fit in Titan's system. Lawson hasn't played position since college and Jerry Hughes is a part time role player who I believe will struggle if asked to do anymore than rush the passer. June 1st hasn't been a big cut day in more then a few years as teams don't have to wait until then to cut a player anymore in order to push his cap hit out. They would simply designate him as a June 1st cut like the Bills did with Fitz last year. Edited May 27, 2014 by Max997
smapdi Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Morgan is an intriguing name. There was a lot of hype for him when he came out of college and there was some serious debate about whether we should have drafted him in the 1st. At 6'3" / 271 lb, he has ideal size to line up at DE in the 43. A prototypical 4-3 defensive end, Morgan is stuck in no man's land in Ray Horton's 3-4 defense. The 2010 first-round pick is penciled in at outside linebacker, a position he's never played before. The Titans have gone on to sign Shaun Phillips and restructure Kamerion Wimbley's contract, leaving Morgan's status up in the air. Much like Graham, he could be a bargain acquisition for a team with a 4-3 scheme. He went to college in Atlanta, and the Falcons just happen to need a pass rusher. He struggled his first couple seasons but has bounced back and had 93 tkls / 12.5 sacks / 2 FF the last 2 seasons. He seems like a Jerry Hughes situation guy- a former 1st round pick who has become obsolete due to a scheme cheange.. He definitely is in no-man's land in their new 34 because I don't think he has the athleticism to man OLB. I'm not sure what he would cost in a trade but I wouldn't imagine anything more then a 4th or 5th rounder. I'd feel really good about this defensive line if they were able to add a player like him into the rotation. I love Hughes as our 3rd down, pass rushing specialist but he doesn't have the size to hold up an entire game playing all 3 downs. Also have to have some insurance in case Mario Williams were to get hurt.
