Which of the Obama quotes from this bs article do you disagree with? I'll go with "Republican ideas are largely are largely rejected by the public" for $1000 Alex. 3rdnlng
From the OP's link. More of the blame game: The Founding Fathers decided in the “Great Compromise” in 1787 to apportion House seats based on population and give each state two seats in the Senate regardless of population. The solution was a compromise between large states and small states in a dispute that nearly dissolved the Constitutional Convention. The president also blamed “demographics” for the inability of the Democratic Party to gain more power in Congress, saying Democrats “tend to congregate a little more densely” in cities such as New York and Chicago. He said it gives Republicans disproportional clout in Congress. “So there are some structural reasons why, despite the fact that Republican ideas are largely rejected by the public, it’s still hard for us to break through,” Mr. Obama said. He also said Democrats suffer from the “congenital disease” of not voting in midterm elections. Azalin
apparently there are a lot of people who don't realize that we're a representitive republic, and that each state is considered a sovereign entity provided equal representation in the senate. You are such an idiot Please explain how equal representation by each state in the Senate is unfair, especially in light of seats in the House of Representatives being apportioned based upon population. TakeYouToTasker
You seriously don't understand that? Wow 2 senators representing 1 million people vs 2 senators representing 34 million people? It's not unfair, it's purposeful as a check and balance. It's there so the larger states cannot dictate to the smaller states how they will live; else there is no reason for smaller states to remain a part of the country, as they would have no say in how they are governed.
