YoloinOhio
Best point he made about Byrd was about wanting all the players to be "All-in" and said they could have franchised Byrd again and wait for him to report. Obviously Whaley expected Byrd to sit out half the season again and report when he had to so he didn't want to deal with a player who wasn't "All-in" as he put it. The Bills have a very young team for the most part. To have a respected veteran, one of the best players on the team, be more concerned about his own well-being that whether the team wins or loses (which I would not exactly fault him for by the way if he was playing on a one-year tag in the prime of his career and his highest earning potential, it is really human nature), would be a negative effect on the culture and possibly on the field as well that I do not think the Bills feel would be overcome by the positives of having him on the team for another year. They have seen that movie already, and they don't want to see the sequel.
