rockpile Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I think the full burden should fall on the taxpayers of NYS, if that's what it takes to get 'er done. Agreed. If my taxes can go to the Yankees and the Mets, they can go to the Bills too. Do NY taxes contribute to the Jets and Giants or are they NJ corporations?
Big Gun Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Google Rochester to Niagara Falls, NY and to RWS. The Ralph is 79 miles, the Falls is 85.8 miles. Drive time is 10 minutes less to RWS. This might be true but not everybody from Rochester would travel the NYS thruway to a Niagara falls stadium. Route 104 and Route 31 are also very good options when traveling to N Falls with 104 being better. As for the stadium site itself, I personally think a retractable dome in N Falls site would make the most sense. Regardless of what us local people think, N Falls is still an attraction all by itself. A new stadium there could also maybe attract, NCAA final four, College kick off game or Major bowl game, Super Bowl some day, concerts, monster trucks, whatever other entertainment stadiums have, etc. Anything that goes on in there and has tickets sold will help WNY and southern Ontario financially. There are lots of hotel rooms, restaurants, casinos, attractions, etc. I really see this as a win/win for WNY. Unfortunately I just don't see a stadium being used as frequently if it is built anywhere else.
oman128 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) No way Erie County gives up all the Tax Revenue the Bills generate and just gives it to Niagara County. Erie County would have to get something huge in return. Maybe the 2 counties should merge. Edited May 7, 2014 by oman128
Chandler#81 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Ladies & Gentlemen, YOUR Niagara County Buffalo Bills!
PurpleHayes42 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I am a die hard Bills fan but I live in Houston. This whole process of the team being sold and talk of a new stadium seems to be in overdrive. It also seems that the Governor seems to be pushing the agenda hard with short timelines for the stadium studies. Is the rapid pace of things, tied too his re-election campaign. Does he have a strong competitor in the race for the Governor. Just wondering?
jahbonas Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 OK, done deal. New stadium or bust. I would have preferred a RWS renovation, but I think Niagara Falls will ultimately be the pick in an effort to lock in corporate support from Southern Ontario. Yep you get it !!!!! Wealthy Ontario corporations will keep this all viable by buying for corp boxes in the new stadium. Orchard Park, Buffalo, Amherst does not have the required corporate base - so bring the boxes as close as possible to the buyers of those boxes. The NFL has moved away from 80k fan stadiums to more and more a tv sport and corporate boxes

If new stadium lease terms were similar to the current lease terms, I suppose getting out of Erie County's obligation to pay millions of dollars every year for (1) annual capital payments, (2) working capital payments, (3) game day expenses, and (4) operating expenses ought to be worth something: http://www2.erie.gov/exec/index.php?q=buffalo-bills-lease-terms-summary If it hasn't already been paid, maybe Erie County could even negotiate to get out of paying the "Carryover Obligations" that survived the termination of the "old" 15 year lease signed back in 1998: http://www2.erie.gov/exec/sites/www2.erie.gov.exec/files/uploads/Stadium%20Lease%20Termination%20Agreement.pdf Edited May 7, 2014 by ICanSleepWhenI'mDead
BuffaloBill Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I predict the four site finalists will be (in no order) 1) The Falls 2) Downtown/Harbor 3) UB Amherst Campus area 4) Current site. I really believe if the Bills are to stay in WNY long term the stadium needs to be in the Falls. It gives better connection to the Canadian market and an iconic symbol. The problem is that the NYS side of the falls looks like a freaking third world country. It's an absolute dump. Though I did drive past the Meadowlands today on I95 and it is not exactly paradise.
BuffaloBills757 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 In my humble opinion there is no way the Buffalo Bills are NOT moving out of Orchard Park.... If you were to move them downtown you'd have to get an exterminator in their to clean out 10-15 city blocks square of crack dens, section 8 housing and low life riff raff....The same could also be said for Niagara Falls, NY which is a giant cess pool!!...Orchard Park has the property, it has the a great atmosphere why ruin it!!!

They are locked into the Ralph for longer than the next election.
seq004 Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I was born in the Falls but I would love downtown to get it. As close to the harbor. Like on Perry?

(and maybe they would finally FIX UP the U.S. side of the Falls)

bladiebla Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Be it downtown or the Falls, those areas being crappy atm means there is good money to be made. If the new stadium is built there then prices will go up soon!
