thebandit27 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 No the compensation was wrong. Stevie was not traded Let's not pick nits here...he had the trade partner correct and the target correct; nobody had a clue about compensation beforehand. As I said, I heard Jacksonville for a 2nd and a pick next year, which also turned out to be incorrect on compensation.

Fingon Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 not yet.... We'll see, but nothing the Bills have done or said indicates that they don't want Stevie anymore. In fact, everything they've done suggests the opposite. Just so you know, we would lose $3.5 million in cap money if we trade Stevie this year. We paid him a $1.7 million bonus in March. He won't be traded.

Whaley said they had multiple conversations and the final compensation wasn't decided until Cleveland had about 5 minutes left on the clock.

thebandit27 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Whaley said they had multiple conversations and the final compensation wasn't decided until Cleveland had about 5 minutes left on the clock. That would make sense.

Perhaps you should think your answers through. Are you aware that Marrone brought Stevie and Andre Reed with him to pick up Mike Williams at the airport? Are you aware Marrone called Stevie personally to tell him any rumors about Stevie's future on the team were false? Are you aware that they paid Stevie Johnson a $2 million dollar bonus? If it was about cash they never would have given him that money. Yeah those sound like things you do for players that you want off your team. Edited May 9, 2014 by Fingon

Yeah those sound like things you do for players that you want off your team. the fact remains that stevie has the second highest cap hit on the team and isn't even one of our top ten players. he is at risk of getting moved.
Fingon Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 the fact remains that stevie has the second highest cap hit on the team and isn't even one of our top ten players. he is at risk of getting moved. Hah so lets move him because he has a high cap hit so he can have an even higher one? Makes perfect sense, especially since we are all so sure about Mike Williams.
Prickly Pete Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 A awful lot of people here owe Kiper's an apology, or at least an acknowledgement. Kudos, Kiper's! chris heff Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 If Sammy Watkins is there at 4, the Bills will trade their 1st, 2nd and Stevie Johnson to Cleveland for the rights to take Sammy Watkins. Something could change, but as of today, this is on the table...Not sure this makes us better, but they see something in Sammy and envision a long term relationship with EJ and him. If Sammy is not there, they are more than happy with Matthews or Ebron at 9. Nice call
Fingon Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 A awful lot of people here owe Kiper's an apology, or at least an acknowledgement. Kudos, Kiper's! Stevie, is it you? Yes, lets trade our 3x 1,000 yard slot receiver for a mid round pick AND lose $3.5 million in cap space. That sounds like the best trade ever. They should make people take IQ tests before they can post here.
OCinBuffalo Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Wow....legit. Not that far off. I wonder: was Stevie taken off the table by us, or by Cleveland?
smuvtalker Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Much credit given to where much credit is due....great call Kipers Hair!!! And a great pick by the Buffalo Bills!! 2014 is our year!!!

They should make people take IQ tests before they can post here. Overthecap.com says cap hit would be a $25,000 savings if we cut/traded Stevie. At this point, might as well keep him and try and deal him next year. As for IQ tests, I'm all in, but let's start with the Bills FO.
thebandit27 Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Wow....legit. Not that far off. I wonder: was Stevie taken off the table by us, or by Cleveland? Kiper's Hair may have different insight, but I'm told he wasn't really a consideration
Just in Atlanta Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Impressive. To be fair, teams throw out all sorts of stuff to create false rumors AND to test the waters for potential trades. Impressive nonetheless.

The point is Kiper's had credible inside information, and those that disparaged him were WRONG. Edited May 9, 2014 by HoF Watkins
