YoloinOhio Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 (edited) Mike Rodak @mikerodak 2m Former Jaguars LB Russell Allen tells @theMMQB that he suffered a stroke during last season’s loss to the Bills: http://bit.ly/1jvkLu0 He ran head on into Eric Wood and suffered a cerebellum injury that will end his football career. (MMQB called him Evan Wood) Edited April 22, 2014 by YoloinOhio
Chandler#81 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Poor guy. I shoulda warned him Bills footabll can do that to ya..
zow2 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Always amazes me how you watch an NFL game on TV and so many things are going on that we (fans) are not aware of. We see the big collisions but all kinds of smaller hits are happening on every play. Guys careers can end in the blink of an eye. It's scary what happened to Russell Allen but hopefully he will have a good post NFL life.
PO'14 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Look at Fredex trying to steamroll Allen and another defender. If you look closely in the background you can see a Bill trying to block Allen. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24535919/former-jags-lb-russell-allen-suffered-stroke-in-week-15-last-year
Dorkington Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Don't know him from the next guy, but it always sucks to see a career ending injury. Hopefully he has something else lined up in life, and I wish him the best of luck.
jr1 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Sometimes we forget how dangerous the sport is. God bless him
zow2 Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Eric Wood@EWood708m Pretty sobering reading on ESPN bottom line that a collision I had with a LB for the Jags gave him a stroke and career over Eric Wood@EWood708m Just reminds you of how fragile your career in the NFL is and you can't take it for granted

What a mental burden to bear. Not that he did anything dirty, but just knowing you were the player to lay down the hit that caused the stroke. Yeesh!
