RK_BillsFan Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Since there are a lot of other daft threads with mountains of pages, I thought it would be nice to have a place where you can post your draft, and rather than make a new post when you are updating, just simply update your post? Sounds like a great way to have 1 thread that we can all reference. So I did a few mock drafts on FanSpeak yesterday. By a few I mean I did like 50-ish. I'm clearly not going to post all the results from each on, but I found it interesting how many different first picks we could have gone with. With that in mind, I also did some strange drafts where I drafted someone interesting that has not really been discussed. Things I found from my draft: 1) The 9th position is a strange position for us to have due to our needs and the depth at certain positions. 2) There are a lot of possibilities for the first pick 3) We could use the draft to pick up eventual replacements for aging Vets. 4) I still believe trading down for the Bills would be the best option in the first round, and we don't need to go very far. Even if we only pick up an additional 3rd, it would give us an enormous amount of flexibility. My stance on who to pick with the first pick has changed. At the start of the draft season I was head strong on getting an RT with out first pick. The chances of them being there was supposedly high at the time. Due to the depth of OT's I will no long push for that to be our first pick, however I will not be upset if it is. So what does my new draft look like with what I feel is a realistic view of how things will unfold based on what teams actually value and not just what someone is ranked? Round 1: People I'm ok with grabbing with #9 in order of preference. Khalil Mack, Arron Donald, Jake Matthews, Greg Robinson, Mike Evans, Eric Ebron I don't think I need to explain anyone here with maybe the exception of Arron Donald. He doesn't fit a major need. This is true. But we have some aging or not right cogs in our machine and he may be able to either replace them eventually or fit a specific need. Also I'm not 100% sold on Mike Evans and Eric Ebron and taking them at 9 would be an "i guess i'm ok with that" selection My dream choice here? Khalil Mack Round 2: Choices in no order but i will try to keep them in groups by position Troy Nikals, C.J. Feidorwicz,Jace Amaro, Antonio Richardson, Xavier Su'a-Filo, Gabe Jackson, Cyril Richardson, Allen Robinson, Donte Moncrief, Martavis Bryant, Cody Latimer, Brandon Coleman, Kyle Van Noy, Chris Borland, Shayne Skov, Carlos Hyde, Charles Sims Lots of Picks here. There are even some running backs, but I would love to pick one later in the draft. This all really comes down to what we did with the first pick, and how the draft if going. What I think will be BPA that fits a need: C.J. Feidorwicz Round 3: Choices here are again in no specific order, and some may repeat from above C.J. Feidorwicz, Antonio Richardson, Cyril Richardson, Chris Borland, Max Bullough, Yawin Smallwood, Lamin Barron, Shayne Skov, Carlos Hyde, Charles Sims, Donte Moncrief, Martavis Bryant, Cody Latimer, Brandon Coleman Lots of choices. Pretty easy to see needs being addressed here and replacements for aging vets. The draft starts taking some weird turns here in the simulator, it's pretty much a crap shoot on who's actually still on the board. Pick I'd like for this round: Antonio Richardson Round 4: Lots of repeat names, and in some cases players dropping wildly into later rounds here. C.J. Feidorwicz, Max Bullough, Lamin Barron, Charles Sims, Donte Moncrief, Martavis Bryant, Cody Latimer, Brandon Coleman, Zach Mettenberger, Tom Savage Draft really starts to slim down at this point. Lots of options but only a few picks left and teams know the value of these players. I would find it very hard to believe that some of these players make it down this far. Realistically: Cody Latimer Dream: Charles Sims(I doubt he will be here though) Round 5: It's all Fubar Everything is Fubar here. The fluctuation between who is and isn't here at this point of the draft is ridiculous, so i'm just going to list who I'm hoping is here and that we get due to him sliding. Pick: Max Bullough Round 6: Go outside, nothing to see here Pick: Rough Touch Ultimate Frisbee Round 7: I just don't really know what to do with 7th round picks. I can Hope/Pray that some injured players fall here. Dream Pick: Zach Mettenberger So whats this all really come out to. Well it's a pretty wild and long trip through the draft. Some of the choices are hopefully and probably impossible, others are minor reaches, and some are just about right, fitting needs at about the right round for that player to go. TL:DR A Draft I would be more than ecstatic to see: 1) Khalil Mack (Dream) 2) C.J. Feidorwicz (Slight reach) 3) Antonio Richardson (Fills need and good value for the round) 4) Cody Latimer or Charles Sims(Fred Jackson isn't getting any younger) 5) Max Bullough (Falls due to possible character issues/ Its hard to get in trouble in B-lo) 6) Go tanning or something 7) Zach Mettenberger (Need a third QB/Project) What do you guys think? Tintonfallsbillsfan Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Metteberger doesn't leave round 3 without a team Latimer seems to be moving into late 2 early 3 you could probably flip flop your 2 and 3 and get them for me First round is a mess I think you can get a damn good right tackle in round 2 so who do you take in round 1 ? Evan, Ebron, Mack if he some falls , and A lot of mocks are going back to where they started with C.J mosely. Personally I think he falls to the 20's Second round best Tackle on the board Richardson, James, The kid from Ohio state, whoever Whaley and Marrone feel is best Third round depends on First. If it is Erbon is the first . then the third could be Coleman, or Hill Rb lsu, 4th round I would see what the qb crowd looks like if that isn't the plan then guard for sure Turner would work for me 5th I would take a running back if I didn't pick one earlier, or Tight end Like Lynch or Grimble 7th Punter from Iowa state was my pick until they brought in the Harvard kid, so I would say the Best outside linbacker/special teamer they can find Specifices are tough but realistically Ebron - Although I really hate taking a tight end this high/ cJ Richardson/Mewhort Coleman/latimore Murray /Seastruck Simms/Grimble /
Hazed and Amuzed Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I've grown to trust Whaley, he seems to be a very sharp and talented GM. I believe that he ran the draft last year, just didn't seem like a Buddy draft although I feel like Nix had a big part in it. The best two drafts the Bills have had in recent history can be attributed to Brandon(2009 GM) and Whaley(2013). I think I trust what these two are bringing to the table as the new leaders of this team. Personally I'm up in the air as far as that #9 pick goes, but I'll get behind whatever they decide.

All of this. To my own surprise. And OP, its too early for this post. The draft is still 4 painful weeks away. maybe try again in 2 weeks or so.
luckywarriors Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I will go with the scenario of a trade down with the Giants, with the bills picking #12 and also getting a extra 5th. 1) Eric Ebron TE 2) Cyrus Kouandjio OT 3) Marcus Smith DE-LB 4) Ahmad Dixon S 5) James Wilder Jr HB 5) Bryan Stork OC-OG 7) tom Hornsey P That is as of April 13,2014
maryland-bills-fan Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 C.J. Feidorwicz is third round talent at best, no way they waste a 2nd on him. I think that you have to look at the positions where the Bills have NOT stacked up a lot of talented players. Specifically, offensive tackle, offensive guard and linebacker (the 1 and 2 year rentals are only a stopgap, fallback position). Where and who do we draft depends upon how we trade down. Our targets are ROT: Zack Martin (1st round) or Morgan Moses (2nd round), ..... Linebacker: Sharzier, Noy or Mosley.........OG: Yankey or Gabe Jordon. .........I don't care how they do it. I would like to have a lower first round pick and two second round picks to get one from each of those positions. Trade one or both(?) 3rd round picks if necessary to get the second 2nd round pick. We get an immediate upgrade at THREE friggin positions- can you ask of much more from a draft?

Also, I would rather take a QB somewhere around round 4 or 5 (Murray, Boyd, McCarren someone like that should be around). Really, really like Ebron and Kouandjio. Then maybe we could get Arie Kouandjio in next years draft if he comes out and really shore up the OLine. 1. Ebron 2. Kouandjio 3. Brooks - S FSU 4. Murray - QB Georgia 5. Half Back - Thomas ORE?, not really sure who 7. OL - anyone If we're able to snag another pick late - L'Damian Washington Mizzou WR Edited April 14, 2014 by Mark80
aristocrat Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 It seems like a such a consensus that we take ebron or a tackle with that top pick. I think we might surprise some people and go with a db to add to our secondary. We play so many teams that were top 10 in passing and we will need all the help we can get back there. Detroit, san diego, denver, chicago, pats etc.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 1. Matthews/Richardson/Lewan 2. Scott Crichton DE Oregon State 3. Deone Bucannon SS Washington State 4. Dakota Dozier G Furman 5. Joe Don Duncan TE Dixie State 7. BPA...best punter available.

He's versatile enough to play any position in the secondary which would be good for Schwartz's defense. That said, I doubt they go for a DB in round 1. I don't think we need a CB that early, and I think 9 is too soon for Pryor/Clinton-Dix. JMHO.

I'd hate to lose gilmore or leodis for any period of time and then move aaron over to db again. We had the second most seconds in the league, signed a mlb to address the run defense, we could take a TE in the second and a lineman in the second if we have two picks. I'd like our defense to look a little more like seattle's legion of boom where teams struggle to throw on us. Gilbert is fast as hell and good size and very physical so I wouldn't hate him there. Though I heard he took a lot penalties in college so I don't know how that would translate to the pro game.
NewEra Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 My wish list in order of preference: Manziel Mack Clowney Watkins Robinson Matthews Bortles Evans Ebron Lewan I believe Lewan will be our selection. I hope to get a RT in rd 2 if we don't draft one in round 1. Pears needs to be replaced. His run blocking is one of the major problems with our offense IMO. If Lewan is taken, my ideal pick would be Jimmie Ward. I believe he's the 2nd best safety in the draft behind Pryor. Love his skill set and I don't think we'd miss Byrd for a second. Last year, Robert woods was the only player I REALLY wanted in rd 2. Ward is that guy this year. I doubt he's the pick though now that we've signed graham. Kyle Van Noy would be my other choice, but its unlikely he's available. If Derek Carr is somehow there, I'd snatch him up. I think Troy Niklas will be our pick, but I'd rather have asj or amaro. Ill leave it at that for the moment, time to get off the toilet and get this day moving
frogger Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 1-trade down, to 13th getting pick 44 in the exchange, pick Eric Ebron...Scenario, St Louis moved back from 2 to 5, drafting Watkins, at 9 they see a Wolverine tackle they like and trade 13 and 44 to get him...Detroit doesn't need a TE, nor does Tennessee, the Giants jump onto Donald...we get Ebron 2a-Moses, with Kouandjio or James as back up plan, any three will be upgrades over pear in time. 2b-Deone Buccanon-allows Graham to remain at corner and/or create a better big nickel. Buccanon is a thumper with ball hawk abilities. 2c-trade 2014's 3rd, 7th and 2015's 3rd to move up and draft Kareem Martin-good straightline speed, longest arms of the DEs and productive college player. He's ideal for wide 9. 3-take nap...and nap with a smile after seeing the Bills upgrade 4 spots 4-Cyril Richardson-guard/Tackle-he's falling, I can't believe this is the guy Spielman called Larry Allen like, Richardson can push both guards and could start. Worse case he's a back up 5-Kevin Pierre-Louis-olb-smooth athlete, Nickel LB and special teams...depth pick 6-traded 7-traded
