GG Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Is there a both option? Because there really should be a both option. Yes, there is that.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Or their children could be sold away, what great family values! Great post. Did you get the rest of Bundy's quote? He thinks slaves had a 40 hour work week and came home to a house with chickens and a garden. So you got all that from a few things this guy said. You're a pretty perceptive guy. I am aren't I? Even if his comparison isn't quite appropriate I think his intentions in his statements are well intention ed. Dead end subsidized life with little or no hope elevating yourself. Drug and gang infested neighborhoods. Single moms with no male partner to balance out the kids. A mess. Or slavery. I guess the ghetto life is better but how much better? Anyway, for what it's worth he never mentioned "picking cotton" in his statement From Right Scoop. A obvious attempt by the media to exaggerate. Lets make Bundy look like a hick racist. With him discredited so is his cause. So lets ignore the BLM pointing guns and tasering people expressing their freedom of speech. And lets ignore those ridiculous free speech zones and focus on this poor fugger and his mis timed statements. “That’s exactly what I said. I said I’m wondering if they’re better off under government subsidy, and their young women are having the abortions and their young men are in jail, and their older women and their children are standing, sitting out on the cement porch without nothing to do, you know, I’m wondering: Are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were when they were slaves, and they was able to have their family structure together, and the chickens and garden, and the people had something to do? And so, in my mind I’m wondering, are they better off being slaves, in that sense, or better off being slaves to the United States government, in the sense of the subsidies. I’m wondering. That’s what. And the statement was right. I am wondering.” http://therightscoop.com/breaking-cliven-bundy-responds-to-charges-of-racism-the-statement-was-right/ I guess Auschwitz wasn't that bad either. Lots of family time together.
Chef Jim Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I am aren't I? No, you're actually quite the opposite.

Become involved.
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Cut Bundy some slack. He is a good Mormon, didn't Mormons think African-American were the devil until 1977? "The Curse of Cain." Obvioulsy, old Clive Bundy never got the memo from Harry Reid, that this is simply not true.

TH3 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Things like this are exactly why I did not re-register as a Republican. The parts of the GOP that seem to run things have become like a bad labor union....nothing that any of their members can do is wrong....and we will defend them them till the end. There is nothing that this guy has done that is defensible on any level, from any angle, from any viewpoint that isn't totally wrong or hypocritical. When the GOP lives consistently by their own self professed virtues - and call out their "own"....I'll be back.

You can support the principle of resisting federal over-reach without supporting the views of the man being over-reached against. What strange world do you live in, in which this isn't an option?
TH3 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) You can support the principle of resisting federal over-reach without supporting the views of the man being over-reached against. What strange world do you live in, in which this isn't an option? How is this an example of federal over reach? Dumb ass racist rancher who thinks he lives in the 1850's breaks laws for 20 years, loses court fight, flouts the rule of law, his defenders want to shield themselves with their wives, gets embraced as a shining example of federal over reach? Which part of this situation does the right want to be hypocritical on? Rule of law?, Freeloading? Taking something for nothing?Racism? Heroism? Are you saying you are willing to overlook the simply grotesque aspects of this situation to glom on to the dubious angle of federal overreach in it? THAT is why I am registered independent..... B-Man Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 You can support the principle of resisting federal over-reach without supporting the views of the man being over-reached against. What strange world do you live in, in which this isn't an option? Exactly right. Bundy’s Statements: Stupid and Appalling Cliven Bundy’s statements about “the Negro” and slavery were stupid and appalling. Of course, because everything is now political, there will be a race over the next few days to ascribe his comments to all conservatives, most tea partiers, the majority of Republicans, and, as one presidential candidate famously put it, to your “typical white person.” Such a practice is as stupid and appalling as Bundy’s comments. But perhaps not as stupid and appalling as the statements of Bundy’s most famous antagonist, who marveled that Barack Obama was “a light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted one.” Or maybe not as stupid and appalling as noted anthropologist Joe Biden’s astonishment upon discovering “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.” Regardless, the debate over which is stupider and more appalling will itself be stupid and appalling, with no shortage of competing stupid and appalling quotes. And because the subject is race, and the mid terms are only months away, it won’t just be stupid and appalling, it will also be cynical, fatuous, and opportunistic. The stupid and appalling statements of an obscure rancher in Nevada, however, merit a bit less attention from the mainstream media than the stupid and appalling statements of someone with the power of a vice president or Senate majority leader. Unlikely. .
Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Exactly right. . Oh ok, turn a racist tirade into an attack on the President...because everything is political

Deranged Rhino Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) His views on slavery vs. dependency should have no bearing on his land rights. Furthermore, those views aren't too far off from what other people have stated, even here on this board. Bundy's way of putting it was just a little less gentile. And those that share his views, even a more "gentile" wording of those views, are as small minded as he is. It's why a-political folks, moderates, or independents have a VERY hard time voting republican even in the face of democratic stupidity. Hatred of someone because of their race or sexual orientation is not something I can ever support -- not matter how you try to scrub away the racist undertones of such statements. The fact that you're so quick to defend him on this subject is not something to be proud of. There is a difference between having principles and being stubborn. Edited April 25, 2014 by GreggyT

Is it possible for you to understand that Bundy may have land rights? He sounds like a crusty old man who didn't articulate a premise very well that has been discussed here in a not so frank way as Bundy did. What are Bundy's views that you are opposed to? Please use only his words. Why bring sexual orientation into this?

TakeYouToTasker Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) Soft slavery? What's that? Summed up very succinctly by Lyndon B. Johnson: "I'll have those n*****s voting Democratic for the next 200 years."; soft-slavery is perpetual multi-generational dependance, which serves to hold a group of people in a perpetual underclass by making their chains fit softly upon their wrists. It is the desruction of the black family. It is the marginalization of the black male. It is the handout that replaced that paycheck which made the former possible. It is the incentivization of these same behaviors, generation after generation, which normalizes, and removes the shame. But most importantly, it is the slave masters, using these humans for nothing more than their votes, much like the Southern farmer in his field. Edited April 25, 2014 by TakeYouToTasker
3rdnlng Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Soft slavery? What's that? It's how you leftists get your voters.
