Donald Trump asked to invest in the Bills

Recommended Posts

The Mara and Rooney families were around and they have major clout with the league owners. IMO, any ownership group with Trump involved is DOA.

Trump's a love him or dislike him kinda guy. I think he'd be a very good owner but there may be others without the polarizing personality that would be more agreeable to the owners.

He told WBEN radio (via ESPN.com) he has been contacted by a group looking to buy the Bills, asking if he would be interested in being an investor, and Trump said he would "look at it." He said he would want to keep the Bills in Buffalo. Bills owner Ralph Wilson died on March 25.

Anybody who ensures the Bills stay in Buffalo would be good enough for me.

I think Darcy was an awful GM but I have no problem blaming Quinn as well. Golisano just helped out to keep the Sabres in Buffalo. He'd be more invested in the Bills IMO.

Darcy was definitely not a horrible gm, im tired of people saying this. He made some great trades to the point that gm's stopped dealing with him. He turned Chris Gratton into Briere. Acquired Drury for basically nothing, he drafted Roy, Pomenville, Campbell, etc,etc.. I believe his time ran its course. He rebuilt the Sabres 3times. I think he did a great job.

read my lips

The National Football League prohibits teams from owning casinos, and a league policy warns of potential severe penalties for any league personnel, including owners, who associate "with gamblers or with gambling activities in a manner tending to bring discredit to the NFL."

That applies to the Donald as he owns through his conglomerate 2 casino's.

it aint gonna happen. (w/o a huge donation to the commissioner RG)

I guess we have different definitions of great. Of the 149 players he draft, 4 became all stars. In 16 years as a GM, in a sport where half the teams make the playoffs, his teams have missed the playoffs 8 times. He helped construct the worst team in the NHL. His first few seasons, he rode one of the greatest goalies in history. He was average at the absolute best.

This. And you are being extraordinarily generous calling him potentially average. He inherited a good, near Stanley Cup team and turned them into the absolute last place team we see today. That is his legacy. How he lasted as long as he did is a mystery to me. Were I Pegula I would have fired that piece of **** about 2 seconds after I signed the papers making me the owner of the team. !@#$ him.

I dont care who the owner is as long as the Bills stay in Buffalo

CBF

Exactly what you said.

Baffles me how you can find negators no matter what.

Bills: Buffalo, we found an owner that's going to buy the team, keep them here, bring a national presence to the team, has enough money to spend to win, is a NY State resident and has publicly stated the Bills are the only true team in NY State, is close friends with many former stars from the team, and is a real estate mogul who might be interested in using the team as a centerpiece of local redevelopment initiative.

Average fan: Really, that's great! What's his/her name?

Bills: It's Donald Trump!

Average fan: forget it! He's too loud, has a tv show I hate, went bankrupt 20 years ago before becoming even more successful and I hate his hair. And he's a republican!

Oy vey!

Trump would be perfect man. He has the money and smarts. He could get us a new stadium and with his connections we go from playing one game a year in Toronto to develop that fan base...to playing a game in Yankee stadium every year and trying to develop that one !

Trump constantly flirts with bankruptcy. His "empire" is mostly a sham. He now makes his biggest money from TV, and from "renting" his name to other developers for a fee. As to his smarts, would love to see a few examples of it. Perhaps his credentials as an investigator of Prez Obama's Kenyan roots is what you're referring to?

My main work is investing and so I read a great amount of financial information, much of it from specialized sources. Among those who are serious in the worlds of finance and development, Trump's name never comes up as an authority or as someone to pay attention to. If anything, he's regarded as a conman and a clown.

According to Forbes his net worth is nearly $4bn dollars.

TMZ reached out to the owner of the Dallas Mavericks to ask him about Trump's potential interest in purchasing the Buffalo Bills. Cuban reportedly responded by saying, "He cant afford them by himself. So it would be interesting to see what group he put together to buy them. It would make things interesting."

Apparently, Trump wasn't too happy with those comments, and fired back at Cuban accordingly:

Mark Cuban is a lightweight whose net worth is a fraction of mine. He was rejected by baseball and probably plenty of others! By the way, I watched him play golf and he is a total non-athlete – zero clubhead speed. He lives vicariously through his basketball players.

By the way, the Dallas Mavericks deal is syndicated and his partners have been fighting him over poor management. While the Bills deal would be easily handled by me, if I chose to do it, almost all sports deals are syndicated.

Trump is such a megalomaniacal, bombastic, self absorbed, annoying jackass who can never STFU irrespective of his knowledge or lack thereof on a particular subject. Yeah, he'd make a great owner.
