I wouldn't mind the Donald as long as he keeps the team in Buffalo. I doubt he would put up with the losing atmosphere that has engendered this team for the last decade and a half.

He's too political a figure. He'd be railing against the Democratic majority in NYS daily.

April fools?

ding ding

that'd be a good one

Donald Trump as owner of the Bills: "Buffalo, yer fired!"

And then he would probably have some reality show on the G4 channel (or something like that) where different cities make a pitch for the team. If you want the team to stay in Buffalo, he is not the guy you want. The guy is perenially losing money with bad ideas...if he didn't move the team himself to cash in, he would no doubt sell them to the highest bidder, no matter where they were.

This is the 1st thing that popped into my head except the reality show would be to hire the head coach and/or GM.

Trump owning this team would worry me even if he planned to keep them in Buffalo because I don't believe he would hire football men to run it, he would try and do it himself. We'd probably win FA each year but still be mediocre.

Trump might be good as he would be great for establishing a stadium that would be the center of some sort of commercial real estate complex...mall, condos etc. Pegula would bring the same deal and I think is the front runner for this team. He's busy establishing a sport legacy and this is right up his alley. There is no reason he doesn't buy this team.

Please tell me you're his financial advisor.

Last time I checked (about 3 years ago) Pegula was worth 3.5 Billion dollars, according to Forbes. That would make him one of the 5 or 6 most valuable owners in the NFL. He made his fortunes in the oil fracking business. Not a big fan of that... incidentally, I read that Ralph Wilsons net worth was somewhere in the same ball-park.

The Sabres are chump change for him (though, to his credit, he puts much more into them...not necessarily with the best results). He can afford it, and then some. He has invested a considerable amount of money in downtown Buffalo, with the Sabres and Harbour Center. If he did buy the team, it might be safe to imagine that downtown stadium after all...

ok thx..I'd be down with this seeings as Pegula would be buying a team that has a good front office already unlike when he bought the Sabres...well maybe a few changes need to be made to the FO, but still not a full overhaul like he needed to do with the Sabres...

as for Trump...on another site I read a comment that I found intriguing...someone asked if Trump still had ties to his casinos..and if so wouldn't that mean he couldn't own a sports team that he could be able to bet on or make money with other ppl betting on...would he be willing to cut ties with a casino to own an NFL team?

Also most importantly, can you imagine Trump's combover in the wind of Ralph Wilson Stadium?

lol..someone said they want to see a comb-over added to the bills logo if Trump buys

move along. it's difficult to take Trump's interest in anything seriously.

Agree....he's running for President again, right?

I think Jacobs would. The Bruins are an elite NHL team and even though the Bills are bad, it's still a much bigger deal to own them. Especially being from here.

Golisano, IMO, was hamstrung by an awful GM in Darcy Reiger. Plus, he wasn't really a hockey guy. Rumor is he'd love to won the Bills.

Bob Rich ain't rich enough.

Obviously, there are concerns but I think the Bills are going to stay here long term. too many people would care about them to let them leave.

The part I bolded makes absolutely no sense to me.

I think you take any owner that keeps the Bills in Buffalo. The actual question/answer from Trump for those that haven't heard it:

John Zach: Mr. Trump, a number one priority issue here in the city of Buffalo right now is keeping the Buffalo Bills from eventually moving to another city. It might not happen right away but it could happen down the line. What should any candidate who is thinking about runnign for governor do about this? And also, have you ever thought about owning an NFL franchise?

Donald Trump: Well, people have actually talked to me about the Bills. And, you know, Jim Kelly is a very good friend of mine and I spoke to him two days ago. He called me and actually his family is staying at one of my apartments in New York as he’s going through a very tough time. He’s a great guy and he sounded actually really good two days ago. He called me from the hospital.

I know so many people in Buffalo and they have asked me about looking at that and I certainly would look at it but I would… if it were ME I’d keep the team in Buffalo. Buffalo, you know, it’s a storied franchise. You look at Jim, I mean, he coulda won four Super Bowls. He was something. A field goal here and there and he would’ve won a couple of Super Bowls at least, right?

I think it’s something that is really vital to the area. If the state loses the Buffalo team and if Buffalo loses it with all of the trouble Buffalo’s gone through… Don’t forget every election for governor, Buffalo becomes a big topic and they all say they’re gonna do everything and then as soon as the election’s over, you don’t hear from the governor again for another three-and-a-half years.

It would be catastrophic, in my opinion, if Buffalo lost the Buffalo Bills.

Susan Rose: Mr. Trump, how serious is your interest in possibly owning the Bills?

Donald Trump: Well, I heard about it, like, last week. I mean, the group of people called me– would I be interested in investing and I’ll take a look at it. I mean, I look at a lot of things. I’ll take a look at it.

It’s certainly a wonderful franchise. The people are amazing. The fans are amazing in Buffalo. And, you know, my relationship to Jim Kelly and the Kelly family and we hope he’s going to be OK. He’s going through a very, very tough period of time, I mean like about as tough as it gets so we’ll see what happens but I would certainly take a look at it.
