thebandit27 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 My first post-worthy sleeper prospect for the 2014 NFL Draft is Tavarius Wilson, a LB from Division II North Alabama. Wilson is an incredible athlete that was named the Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, amassing 98 solo tackles (7.5 for a loss), 4 sacks, 4 INTs, 2 TDs, 3 FFs, and 3 FRs...oh, he also blocked a punt. First, something to whet your appetite: He's got athleticism, speed, instincts, and brings some serious stick when he gets to the play. To me, he looks like a guy that could, in time, be a solid backup to Kiko at the Will spot. Until then, the team could deploy him on Special Teams, a role in which he earned All-GSC honors as ST Player of the Year in 2012. If Whaley & Co. are looking for some ST aces that can contribute in other phases of the game as well, this could be their type of guy...I view him as a 6th/7th round prospect. Now, for the measurables: 5'11-1/8", 239 lbs 4.77 second 40-yard dash 26 reps of 225 lbs in the bench 36.5" vertical leap 9'6" broad 4.40 sec short shuttle 7.10 sec 3-cone Thoughts?
Dennis in NC Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 No thoughts happening today, I guess... Wilson sounds like an interesting prospect, even for a Div 2 guy. He sounds like he was the star of the show at North Alabama.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 He's too small and slow to play OLB (I think Taylor Lewan had a better 40), and to slow to play safety. Can he catch the football?
RuntheDamnBall Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 He's pretty good, but I like T'variusness King from Merrimack College even better.
