SmokinES3 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Did you guys watch his pro day with pads and a helmet? I've been a hater since jump. Not anymore...
Donald Duck Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Over-hyped project QB who's a future NFL Bust destined for the CFL where he can best use his runaround talents. A Rodgers has made a real good living throwing on the run with accuracy Did you guys watch his pro day with pads and a helmet? I've been a hater since jump. Not anymore... 1st time I have ever been wowed by a pro day
FluffHead Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 All of those wanting the Bills to sign a backup Qb this offseason failed to realize the Bills' backup is already on the roster and his name is EJ Manuel
SJDK Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 While I agree that the O line needs some upgrading at RT, I just don't see any team trading multiple #1 picks to get a OT. No offense but it makes no sense to trade up with Houston for Robinson at all. It would be easier, and less costly to trade up with the Rams, as the Bills have dealt with them last year in the draft in their trade back, Besides, lots of site have Robinson & Matthews about equal, with the latter being more pro ready. For that matter Lewan isn't that far behind either of those other top OT's, and the Bills actually could sit at #9 and grab him. All this talk of trading up is just that, talk. Agreed with fearthelosing. IMO if we trade to 1 it's for clowney, once in a generation player
26CornerBlitz Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Aaron Rodgers is a great pocket QB who only bails after he's gone through his entire progression. Johnny Flameout.....not even close. If you don't get this...then I can't help you. Continue to ovulate over the "Great Football Savior" at your own discretion. A Rodgers has made a real good living throwing on the run with accuracy 1st time I have ever been wowed by a pro day Wowed by a Pro Day.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Move over Martin Nance and Marcus Easley......here comes the next board legend at wideout. haha--I forgot about Nance! What about Kamar Aiken? I remember when he made one catch in pre-season, was accidentally listed as #2 WR on the depth chart by bb.com for 3 days, and was hailed as our savior.
SJDK Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 While offensive tackle and/or guard is our biggest need IMO, those positions could be addressed later in this draft. I believe we should get our hands on a talented skill player first whether at 1 or 9 and stock up at offensive line with any number of subsequent picks.

Wowed by a Pro Day. you know normally I would agree, wowed by a pro day, no way but it wasn't just Manziels uncanny precision on the run, it was the way he took command and control of the situation with millions watching, the passion and fire. I want some of that on my team...
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Trade our #1 and E.J. for Manziel..... immediately
Johnny Hammersticks Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 If they are trading for the first pick, it will be Manziel. If they're trading up to #1 it's for Clowney or Mack IMO.

But a bleepin Pro Day!?! Laughable!

What is it that you don't like about his game? Mobility? Improv skills? He throws the ball better than anyone in this draft so it can't be that. He has shredded the best defenses in the country for 2 straight years so it can't be that. Are you worried about him getting hurt or do you just not like him because he is cocky? I am always curious as to what it is that those that don't like him see? The 15-20 games that I have watched him play have really impressed me. I guess that there could be a fear tht he won't stay healthy because of the way he plays but Favre played like that. He started like 200 & something games in a row. Other than that I can't imagine what is not to like? Edited March 29, 2014 by Kirby Jackson

He's just the latest gadget, runaround QB who's game doesn't translate to the NFL. To be successful in the NFL you must be a disciplined, accurate pocket passer who can in the face of pressure deliver the ball into very tight windows with timing, touch, and anticipation. See Rodgers, Brees, Brady, and Manning. I remained unconvinced that Manziel will be able to do this on a consistent basis. The NFL is a passing league within the structure of an offense. I do not see Manziel as the type of QB who can sustain a career for the long term by excelling at those things that I mentioned. Flame out NFL bust ahead. Future CFL star on the horizon! Enjoy him with the Argos. Edited March 29, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz

Enjoy him with the Argos. Fair enough. I guess that we just disagree. I think that he has to play in the pocket more than he did in college but he is an accurate thrower (especially on the deep ball). He didn't need to play from the pocket in college; that doesn't mean that he can't. He can obviously make plays out of the pocket, is a great leader, a phenomenal big game player and has shredded the best defenses in the country (see Alabama). He is not a gimmick guy like Tebow was; Johnny throws it better than any of the other potential 1st round guys. Tebow throws like a girl. Johnny is a more gifted Russell Wilson IMO. I certainly disagree that he is destined for the CFL. His floor is Flutie/Jake Plummer in their primes and his ceiling is Favre/Rodgers IMO. Edited March 29, 2014 by Kirby Jackson

Playing QB in the NFL is about much more than physical gifts. Manziel's judgment and emotional maturity are huge question marks unlike Russell Wilson who is rock solid both on and off the field.

Good wheels doesn't automatically translate to no discipline, It does add another wrinkle that in turn opens up the field and other players because the Defense has to defend the run at all times will there be a learning curve, perhaps an adjustment, I'm sure there will, but just like cam newton I'm willing to bet manziel is perfectly happy with his playing style and ability to deliver the football on the run when the play breaks down. along with his ability to shove the football down his opponents throat running when needed... For example, Aaron Rodgers has great wheels but he reads defenses thoroughly before he tries to make plays with his legs. He is a GREAT NFL QB.

Manziel's judgment and emotional maturity are huge question marks unlike Russell Wilson who is rock solid both on and off the field. Those were questions going into this last season and he was arguably better than the year before. I can see how people are turned off by his personality (I love it personally) but cannot understand how someone would not be impressed by what he did in the SEC. I respect your opinion but think that you are letting your dislike for Johnny the person impact your feelings on Johnny the football player. I am a huge fan of his and you don't like him at all. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.

People are losing their minds over this guy like he's a sure thing and he simply is not.
