NDBUFFCUSEFAN Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 WOW! Just WOW. Hey Gug... This is the mentality we are dealing with. Incredible how the truth comes out! Because following the customs and courtesies of the road is too much to ask?
Gugny Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) Because following the customs and courtesies of the road is too much to ask? But isn't a custom/courtesy not driving 20 mph over the speed limit, as much as it is driving 5 miles under it (in bad weather, to boot)? Edited April 16, 2014 by Gugny
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) If you cannot keep up with the flow of traffic you move over, is this really a difficult concept to comprehend? I am not advocating driving recklessly but if the conditions are manageable I don't need some idiot doing the speed limit in the fast lane. Show me in the law where lanes are called "fast lanes" or "passing lanes." Yes, it may be common courtesy, but she is under no obligation to extend them if she doesn't want to. I view him as the "burdened" vehicle and her as the "right of way" vehicle. Why is this so hard to understand. He's behind her, she dictates, simple as that. This really bothers people doesn't it. Following what I am saying is the safest way to drive for all on the road. Because following the customs and courtesies of the road is too much to ask? See my post above. Also, she may not feel it is prudent and safe. He's "burdened" in this situation. Why is that so hard to accept? But isn't a custom/courtesy not driving 20 mph over the speed limit, as much as it is driving 5 miles under it (in bad weather, to boot)? EXACTLY! That is why on many limited access roads, there is a MINIMUM speed limit. It is usually 45 in a 55. Yeah I could have left that out, the amount I drive makes this a sensitive topic for me. I encounter tons of awful drivers and it really has taken it's toll on my patience. Luckily the girl leaves the service in June and no more almost weekly drives. I will meet you halfway too... But your 85 mph comment really scares me. It isn't the speed. It is stuff like "I know how to drive" comments that scare me the most. My head is spinning in disbelief. I am not trying to start a war, but one must be careful to not over-estimate one's self. Humility is a virtue. Edited April 16, 2014 by ExiledInIllinois
NDBUFFCUSEFAN Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 85 mph is nothing, I got pulled over for going 100 on my way to Vegas a couple years ago, cop gave me a warning and now I keep it under 90 and usually right at 85. I have a lot of experience driving including humvees and 7 tons while in Iraq so I am always aware of my surroundings. I also keep my car in top shape, good tires, rotated every 5k and regularly inspected.
Beerball Posted April 16, 2014 Author Posted April 16, 2014 Maybe now this thread can finally be put to rest. how ironic

Isn't it ironic?
NDBUFFCUSEFAN Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Okeedokee! I guess that makes it all better. A traffic jam when you're already late. Isn't it ironic? You're right, me being a superior driving and wanting to go faster than the speed limit is totally unreasonable.
Gugny Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You're right, me being a superior driving and wanting to go faster than the speed limit is totally unreasonable. It's against the law. Which, driving the speed limit in the left lane, is not.
NDBUFFCUSEFAN Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Out here we have signs like this: Speed limits are a joke on freeways, people should drive as fast as they feel comfortable.
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You're right, me being a superior driving and wanting to go faster than the speed limit is totally unreasonable. Glad you are coming around. Out here we have signs like this: Speed limits are a joke on freeways, people should drive as fast as they feel comfortable. Those signs are all over the places too. Yet, are we sure they were applied in this situation (FLA incident)? And yes, didn't the State of Montana try unlimited daylight speed limit that was "reasonable and proper?" How well did that work out? It is now down to 75 mph. It's against the law. But officer, I am a superior driver, I can handle it... There is no need to give me this ticket. Douche Boy in FLA thought he could handle flipping off a lady whilst he passed on the right giving her the "Hillbilly Stare Down" for a full 8 seconds. Ooopsies... Notice, I used the word: whilst... Damn you Gugny! :-)
Gugny Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Speed limits are a joke on freeways, people should drive as fast as they feel comfortable. You realize this is your opinion, and not a fact, right? Also, it is a fact that there are, indeed, speed limits - minimum and maximum - that define what is legal vs. illegal. Going back to the topic at hand ... the girl broke no laws by driving slowly in the left lane. The guy did break laws by driving dangerously, recklessly and over the speed limit. So ... I reiterate my assertion that the redneck piece of **** got exactly what his stupid, arrogant, ignorant ass deserved.
boyst Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 So if you were the woman how would you feel today? Would you feel justified? Slightly at fauilt? A little guilt? Joy? I'd be feeling a little guilty, or more. The guy might have been having a bad day, who knows? I like to pretend everyone is a nice person and those who aren't are just having a bad day. Well, if he was having a bad day and not got in a wreck over being an idiot, even though I didn't cause it - well, the guy now has to fix up a big truck. He is also embarssed on TV and its too late to change it now - and I'd start to think why I posted the video to begin with. But that's just me

But that's just me Out of those four choices, it would only have to be joy which it wouldn't be. It would be sadness and tough love for how he acted. Justified, slightly @ fault, guilty all imply you did something wrong. Can't be one of those because she did nothing wrong (after watching it over and over again). Dude had pure hate in his eyes and venom from his mouth... He probably kicks his cat too and beats up his boyfriend. I' also feel that I hoped he learned a lesson and will be respectful next time. Insurance is mandatory in FLA... The rig will get fixed... Hope he carries collision, looks new and on payments which he probably does. I'd probably feel some compassion for his personality... But not one bit of remorse. I'd hope it was a learning event for him and that he slows down and thinks next time or it could be much worse.
thebandit27 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I just need one person to answer me this question: If the man had exercised any type of self-control, would we still be having this conversation?
Gugny Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I just need one person to answer me this question: If the man had exercised any type of self-control, would we still be having this conversation? Oh oh oh oh, Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter!!
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) It's against the law. On a rural road at an intersection obscured by foliage do you come to a compete stop? Do you ever roll through a stop? Do you ever drink and drive? Do you ever tailgate? Since the lady was obviously not on a freeway this relates to the topic how?
