thebandit27 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 It just drives me nuts how people are in such a dangerpus rush, rush neurotic frame of mind. I am not that much a slowpoke anyway, I am always going over... But then there are always the few azzholes that wanna go 50% faster. Even fisherman gotta have a bigger motor on their bassboat so they can get to the fishing hole first. What a rat-race! Anyway... LoL! Way too funny. I am lock operator... I know what slow is, my job is like watching paint dry @ times! Sorry about the bandwidth problem! 21st century tech trapped in a 19th century mentality! Slow down people, be safe for everyone. Smell the diesel fumes! ;-) For me it isn't even the speed issue, it's the idea that some of the folks that want to drive fast have the mindset that they are entitled to do so, and that anyone that "gets in their way" is in the wrong. Go ahead, drive fast, and also--if you believe you can do so--safely...just have a modicum of patience with the people that don't prioritize your perceived personal right to drive however you please.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Slower means not over the speed limit. And obstructing traffic is not holding back somebody who wants to speed. If that's the case, then everything is obstruction! Anyway, that site is great... I would bet cops love the Arkansas thing because they can get out into traffic better from where they are set up in the medium to catch speeders. No. Totally wrong. They are the most caring, unless they are doing under the minimum speed limit. They are caring for your safety. Again, we are talking about going the limit or just a few miles under. They are very much aware you are behind them and you are the burdened vehicle. You state is just effed up... This where the cops become a part of the problem... They have bigger fish to fry and bigger revenues to gain... They enable the azz-backward culture through their own gain... Boy does that tie into the culture very nicely! Its not just "my" state. Sure, I live in VA, but I run into traffic like that where ever I drive; NY, Penn, the Carolina's, FLA, Texas etc etc Every state that I drive in people speed. anywhere from 40 to 60% of them speed the "unwritten" 10 mph over the posted speed limit. DYK that a cop can ticket you for going too slow? Its not posted YET they can. You do not need to drive in the passing lane unless ............ you are passing someone!!! if you are driving 55 next to someone driving 55 you are not passing. Why is it so hard to understand that? boyst Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I think she is on the plane now. Anyone got Tempo tonight? Russ git'r done!
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Its not just my state, Sure I drive a lot in VA, but I run into traffic like that where ever I drive; NY, Penn, Carolina's, FLA, Texas etc etc slower means doing less the the average flow of traffic. Every state I drive people speed, they speed the "unwritten" 10 mph over the posted speed limit,. DYK that a cop can ticket you for going too slow? Its not posted YET they can. Oh my God! Of course I know they can ticket you for going too slow. Slower doesn't mean doing less than the average flow of traffic! Are you kidding me? This is so comical in so many ways. Try this... Let everybody go 85 in a 65. You go 75 and get stopped for a ticket. They will give you a ticket for SPEEDING. 75 in a 65. You gotta be joking with your post. It is downright scary the mentality that is being diplayed. Going with flow is not an excuse to speed. For me it isn't even the speed issue, it's the idea that some of the folks that want to drive fast have the mindset that they are entitled to do so, and that anyone that "gets in their way" is in the wrong. Go ahead, drive fast, and also--if you believe you can do so--safely...just have a modicum of patience with the people that don't prioritize your perceived personal right to drive however you please. I agree also. I just didn't state it that way. Like I said in the above post, any driving school on the planet will denounce the "going with the flow thing." It won't get anybody off a ticket. Once again, cops gotta love it... Pitting drivers against drivers while they catch the stray fish and keep their revenue stream alive.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 It is downright scary the mentality that is being diplayed. Going with flow is not an excuse to speed. Not normally. The object is to keep traffic flowing. To do so slower traffic keeps to the right. - Drive right pass left, return right, repeat as necessary.- if the faster flow happens to meet the 10 mph unwritten law so be it. why would the > hundreds cops that I have passed throughout the 30 odd states I have traveled through allow me to speed at the 10 mph unwritten rule w/o issuing me a ticket? because I drive safe (even speeding)
Dorkington Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I'd argue that going with the flow is a perfectly valid reason. I'd rather be moving at about the same speed as traffic than significantly slower or faster, simply for safety's sake. That being said, if going with the flow is just matching one other guy going faster than everyone else, that's different.

Better yet, you and the other posters should be willing to pay half since Pooj may have been influenced by these posts that are pure dreck. Poor Pooj may have read them prior to getting his recent speeding ticket. "Going with the flow" Ha! That's a good one, good way to get a ticket! Oh wait, somebody did... They always do, that is how the cops finance their department. I am just giving you a hard time over some really poor advice... ;-) I'd argue that going with the flow is a perfectly valid reason. NDBUFFCUSEFAN Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Driving fast != reckless driving, I can drive fast without risking other peoples lives. I don't tailgate, I watch the road ahead of me and keep alert. I don't text, drive under the influence or all the other BS a lot of people do while on the road. My phone is mounted on my windshield, it is voice activated so my hands never have to touch it. The speed limit takes into account that most people drive like Stevie Wonder after a bottle of wine.

Of course you can, we all can too, what's your point? This thread has now hit the abyss and is beyond ridiculous. We should start taking a collection for Pooj's traffic ticket...
DC Tom Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 This thread is still alive? People are still arguing "Who's the bigger idiot?"

ExiledInIllinois Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 This thread is still alive? People are still arguing "Who's the bigger idiot?" I think it is past that... Well @ least for me. It has now plummeted into personal driving habits and who has the best ability to drive @ higher speeds Stevie Wonder or me? I always pay attention and keep both hands on the wheel... I can handle driving 85 while some are saying they pass cops doing 85 because they seep trained professional driving ability out their exhaust. All this while poor Pooj is dealing w/a ticket from Buford T. Pusser down in Georgia for doing 85 (separate thread). He was just going with the flow! Some help we are. He must have not had his hands on the wheel @ 10 & 2 while oozing professional driver qualities to the cop that he was blowing by. Wow... How low can it go... Every time it dies down, Gugny revives it by asking "Anything new here?" God love Gugny... I think it happened once, and of course I have his back... ;-P ;-P
bbb Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 God love Gugny... I think it happened once, and of course I have his back... ;-P ;-P At least twice.

I did make a comment on when to follow the flow in his thread. like I said 10's the limit, if I'm pushed over 10 I pull to the right. This thread is still alive? People are still arguing "Who's the bigger idiot?" wake up Tom, we changed the subject to speeding in general

If 80% of traffic is moving at 70mph, and the speed limit is 55mph, and you're going the speed limit, you're endangering people. I know it sounds a bit backwards, but in this case, it's really about what the majority of traffic is doing. It's best to match speed with the cars around you. I take issue with people who are either going significantly faster than general traffic speed, or significantly slower. Exceptions lie on both sides for emergency vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
Gugny Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Spoke to two attorney friends. Each said there would be NO grounds for a civil suit. The girl did nothing wrong. No fault.
