Canadian Bills Fan Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 As soon as I saw the line that started "now that he's gone" I was disgusted. I know!! Thats what really disgusted me. Makes it sound like he's saying "now that he is out of the way, we can finally get a team here" Douche CBF
ExiledInIllinois Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Maybe you can point out the tasteless parts because I didn't see them in the article. Too many Bills fans thin skinned And really, how does that article differ from the TBD thread "so what happens now" Because it is an outsider/vulture taking shots. Granted we have to be thicker skinned. Just drives me nuts. If it was Kraft of the Rooneys saying NO, it would be all over the air about how great and smart they are. Ralph was one of the greatest owners of all time in all sports. You cannot judge the man for the fact that not all of his teams weren't successful. He is not the one out there playing, he gave power to the people he trusted to get the job done. He put out a product that his fans wanted to see and kept that product where he wanted it, where his fan base was. Well said! This just galls some people. Driving through Green Bay two weeks ago for the first time, it reminded me of BFLO, but not quite. The Bills just scream to be community owned. Some will laugh and get their digs in... But, it would be one of the few things in WNY that would work!
Bronc24 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 First of all, the guy is a Star columnist which, even as a western Canadian, cries "sensationalism" and "ill-informed". The Star is well known for personal vendettas and classless opinions. Offensive? Absolutely. However when I consider the source, all I can do is shake my head and not let some chianti drinking pencil neck's column define the legacy of Mr. Wilson.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I was steaming mad when I read the article. I actually called the sports editor of the paper. A few things that bothered me. there’s a hint of megalomania in anyone that names a stadium after themselves That's just factually untrue. There's debate over why they chose to name it after him, but he didn't choose it. Toronto could be the launch point for the new NFL. In order for that possibility to appear, we had to wait for the old order to fade into history. This translates to "Now that this old bastard kicked the bucket, we can finally get s**t done around here.
Uncle Joe Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I find it hypocritical that people are up in arms about things being said about Ralph Wilson that were being said on this board the days before his death. De motuis nil nisi bonum
Mark Vader Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Gross. Best way to describe this article. I have nothing to base this on, but I still firmly believe that Bills aren't going anywhere. Even when the new lease is up, there will be someone or some group that will keep the Bills in Buffalo. As for Toronto getting an NFL franchise. Good luck with that. Unlike the NHL, NBA & MLB, the NFL is an entirely different monster. An NFL franchise will not survive, financially, in a socialistic country.
thebug Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 And you expect anything less...Lets face it, the majority of Canadien fans in any sport despise the United States and any chance they get to take a shot at anything in the US they will..Ever been to a Sabres Leafs game at the Arena? they are the rudest most obnoxious fans you will ever be around, they are loud irritating and mostly jerks, they however usually are shut up because they mostly lose here..With that said I usually never listen to anything a Canadien has to say or let them impact any part of my life becasue they just dont matter Thanks Crayonz! when you have to deal with a bunch of azzhat Jets fans, do you hate on all Americens as well?
Campy Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I find it hypocritical that people are up in arms about things being said about Ralph Wilson that were being said on this board the days before his death. That part I bolded? Maybe it matters. Or maybe the people posting in this thread aren't the people who have bashed Ralph. Aside from the juvenile tone of the article, the thing that bothered me most - and as I posted in the RIP thread - is that it has a lot of inaccuracies. De motuis nil nisi bonum
ALF Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Just one insensitive writer , I 'am pretty old and know by now most Canadians are really good people.
NoSaint Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) He mentions Wilson as out of touch, this guy has no freaking idea. As one of two people who were against signing the CBA that ultimately backfired and put the NFL in a lockout. Even at his "old out of touch age" knew what was and is good for the league. Id love to sit down with this guy, F&%KING Jerk he mentions wilson had a reputation for being out of touch, not that he was out of touch.... i think youd be hard pressed to convince me that his reputation was otherwise, even if he may ultimately right on a lot of the issues. heck, any 95 year old kind of comes with that reputation by itself i could argue that he sold the man short by not mentioning that it might not be a fair reputation but hes also called "amongst the brightest" in the article i didnt read it all, but the brief glance, and highlighted worst offenses in this thread left me feeling like he perhaps wasnt as offense in his assertions, as insensitive in his phrasing? Stenbar Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Thanks Crayonz! when you have to deal with a bunch of azzhat Jets fans, do you hate on all Americens as well? No i dont mind taking abuse from Jet fans...They have earned the right to abuse me...They are a division rival....

RuntheDamnBall Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Cathal Kelly is just a total sh-- stirrer. Take all the things that people loathe about Graham and to a lesser extent Sully, combine them, and you've basically got Kelly. I used to actually like his baseball writing when he was more on the beat. Right now it seems he lives for saying dumb things about Buffalo and football, and writing about lesser sports.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (416) 814-2749 is the number for the Sports director at the paper. Blow his phone/voicemail up.

JPS Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Ok. What was wrong about what he said? I just wasn't as offended as I thought I'd be. He presents legitimate questions to the Toronto market.

shane nelson Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I left a message!! I read the article and almost told her to go to hell. But did not want to lower myself to her level. I grew up in Toronto but moved to the US a number of years ago. I cannot believe how pretentious my hometown has become over the past 20 years. So many people from Toronto look down on Buffalo, yet have never spent any time in the city. While Toronto may have world class amenities, it is clearly missing key behaviors to make it a world class class city.

He presents legitimate questions to the Toronto market. It definitely had the tone of "now that Ralph is out of the way," we can talk about getting this team up here. Have some respect.
