Deranged Rhino
We do have a safe, reliable and nearly UNLIMITED source of energy available today. http://hyperphysics....ene/fasbre.html They're called fast breeder reactors, and if we had the political will, we could be independent of fossil fuels for the generation of electricity within a generation. Couple that with more electric cars on the road and voila. It's a recipe for fossil fuels independence. Thanks for that link. Really interesting stuff. Its economy expanded by 13.4 per cent in 2012, the last full year for which state-by-state figures are available. Concerns about the environmental impact of fracking remain unresolved. However, Mr Dalrymple downplays them and said President Barack Obama should approve the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to the US, noting that North Dakota could build a feeder pipeline to it. Most of its crude oil is transported long distances by rail, which is more expensive and less safe. Evidence of that came when an oil train exploded into a huge fireball outside his home town of Casselton. “It left an impression on people worldwide,” the governor said. He is asking federal regulators to tighten their safety rules and is pushing railroad companies to strengthen tank car protection, axles and wheels. “This collision was actually caused by a soybean train derailing and then the oil train crashing into it,” the governor said. Why are we waiting to build the Keystone Pipeline?

Why are we waiting to build the Keystone Pipeline? Because it will cut into Buffett's profits and big D backers hate it. (Yeah, I know the q was rhetorical. Sorry.) 3rdnlng
Obama's way to create jobs, create a new regulation: http://thehill.com/b...s-on-oil-trains The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will propose a new rule requiring all trains carrying oil to be crewed by at least two people, the agency announced Wednesday. The FRA also said it planned to propose a rule on train securement and that the agency wanted a rulemaking on the movement of hazardous materials in general. Can anyone hear me? Keystone Pipeline! 3rdnlng
I'm bumping this not because the OP was so prophetic but bumping five year old threads seems to be in vogue.
