Buffalo Bills Fan Advisory Board meeting 4/10

Recommended Posts

I have been added to the Buffalo Bills Fan Advisory Board and the next meeting is on 4/10.

These are more for ticket-holder game-day experience than anything else. If you have a "SERIOUS" question or suggestion you would like considered for presentation you can forward it to me either on this thread or via PM.

I'm not sure how these meetings work yet but we'll see...

I missed the cut, probably because I live so far away. It's kind of "out there" but I'd love to see standing room "clubs" built next to the scoreboard. Places where anyone, not just high rollers, can stroll to have a beer during the game at a bar. You can watch the game or checkout the TV's. The Eagles have something like that in the corner end zone section.

I'd also like to see some better food options in-stadium. The food is utter crap now and lines are long and clutter the concourses. How about signing up some WNY icons like Ted's, Mighty Taco, Bocce or LaNova to have food stands along the outside concourses? Of how about a "tailgate" section inside the stadium? Set up some picnic tables, some beer taps and some of these food vendors?

Promo you're gonna want to check out the Stadium Renovation Guide: http://prod.static.bills.clubs.nfl.com/assets/pdf/Renovation-Guide.pdf

Several of your ideas are in there already: Local food options, 'East End Lounge' behind the tunnel, "tailgate" type area inside the stadium gates.

Since mid level tickets *Average* $75 a pop, preseason games have to go. I wouldn't mind spending the money if the games actually meant something.

I can't justify a 600 mile round trip to watch scrubs for 55 minutes on nights where I have to work the next day. I don't need to hear about the 'cheapest ticket in the NFL'. Crap is still crap for practice games, no matter how you spin it.

Send *THOSE* games to Toronto. For free.

I won't mind.

With variable pricing I'm sure the preseason games will be cheaper than any regular season game.

Woohoo.....just read there will be beer only lines! Awesome. I have been harping on that for years.

Now, hopefully they added beer taps and counter space to line up 100 beers to be ready at he end of the first, and 200 at the end of the 2nd so everyone can get the beer they want.

I don't care I'd it is 90 out and my beer sits for 20 minutes and is not ice cold, just have em ready to go!

Sounds like they are doing a great job, can't wait for the opener!

As far as game day experience that's what I really want more of...

I think it'd be awesome to have a virtual game day experience as a fan. Get a locker room that the players use in the field house. Get the fans in there. Get some fake game day scouting report on each team. Get a video of Marrone giving us the pep talk and FJax doing a pregame hype speech. Get us feeling like a player getting ready for kickoff.

Cool idea. I did tell my guy way back when that we fans love ANYTHING that gets us closer to feeling like a member of the team.

how aboutb better ways of getting the fans invilved than the stupid "cheerometer" on 3rd downs. Things like the Jaws theme on knockoffs. The airhorns on defense. Maybe players making personal appearances on the scoreboards to get everyone up and motivated.

You know what I always thought would help. On maybe the Friday before the game, during the news or something, having the coach come on tv and request that fans not only show up, but give it their all. That the teams feeds on how crazy we get. That the team needs the fans to be loud and proud. Of course this is always known, but when have you ever seen a coach or GM come out and say "we need the fans to be there and be crazier than they've ever been. Louder than they've ever been, to help is win this game."

Other than that, desperate beer lines is good. More local food avail abilities would be great. Duffs is a start but lets not stop there. Mighty. Teds. Charlie the Butcher. Chefs. These should all be added.

A separate lounge area is a great idea. Like the Sabres have on their 200 level.

heck to give ya more...

Get Hannah Buehler to come in the locker room and give mock interviews to "players."

Maybe even get former players to come in there, too

And its a great way to sell stuff. You know, try on the helmet... want to buy it? A fake player trading card

OK I am really running with this...

Find a former QB. Have him come in and throw you a TD pass. Go get a former WR or TE and throw them a pass. Get a RB, hand him the ball. Get a shot of that throw it on a mug and someone would buy it to remember the time they handed the ball off to Ken Davis. Or threw a pass to Al Edwards.

I too didn't make the cut for the FAB, but will credit it to the 10 years I spent locked up (just kidding)...

I just read the piece on bb.com about the 6 things to look forward to. I am REALLY looking forward to a new game day experience!! I don't know why, but I was never disappointed with a Sunday at RWS aside from maybe the outcome. That being said, I can't believe how I have "settled"... I think the facelift and the local food vendors are the two biggest upgrades!!!

If I could suggest one thing to the powers that be, it would be to get more local food vendors in at the Ralph- show community pride, and part of what makes Buffalo, Buffalo!!

Maybe mrags and I could run a Chiavetta's chicken stand... lol

I'm liking your idea. It will draw people to the games. There could also be an outside viewing area when the games are sold-out. The Penguins do this during the playoffs outside Consol. This would be great for fans who tailgate, go to the Bills stores, etc. and want to have an experience of watching a game with a bunch of other fans.

I have always wondered why teams don't make restaraunts adjacent to the complex/stadium. Maybe you don't want to pay $500 to go with your family to a game but you could go to the Bills restaraunt and watch the game with a live feed and eat a good meal. Throw in a few cheerleaders. Former players. Local celebs and contests. You'd have one heck of a family venue for those not going to the game.

Sure you'd have an argument that you might not sell out a game. But, so what? You're not going to sell out every single game every week, especially in Buffalo. And you're going to have a place where Bills fans can meet up all year for all sorts of events. think of it like a banquet hall with a restaraunt.

As Boyst just mentioned, I dont think there is any way they would do this Buffalo. Way to many would go to the tailgate, then just watch outside. I think the NFL might even have a rule on the books that only folks with tickets re supposed to be tailgating ??? I seem to remember something about that.

Where can we forward the half-assed, sarcastic suggestions?

Should I just send them to Beerball?

1. Hold tryouts among season ticket holders for best pre-meditated TD celebration. The next time Stevie Johnson scores a TD, push the winner out on the field, and have a security guard handcuff Stevie and escort him back to the bench while the winning season ticket holder goes nuts on the field.

2. Have a contest for who can make the best "in-your-face" home video of our AFC East rivals getting whipped. Plane crashes for the Jets, dolphins ensnared in nets, whatever. One winner for each AFC East rival gets his video displayed on the big screen at half time of the home game against that team.

3. Extra prize for the best Patriots-related anti-video. Winner gets to ride in a military jet during the fly-over at the next year's home opener, and parachute onto the field.

4. Figure out how to hold an auction from fans' cell phones at half-time of the home opener this year, with bidding displayed on the big screen as the auction progresses. Winner gets to shoot Billy Buffalo at mid-field just before the second half kick-off and end the playoff curse that started around the time that Billy Buffalo showed up. All proceeds to benefit Indian reservations of tribes that used to be able to hunt buffalo.

I would also like to know where to send the half-assed, sarcastic suggestions, 'cause I've got a few.
