stony Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Williams sucks. If we're bringing him in to start then that scares me because he's barely better than guys like Colin Brown and Legurski. If we're bringing him in as depth then OBD's priorities are whack. We need starters first and not garbage busts. I don't know a thing about Chris Williams, but I've got to think Whaley and Co. believe he is an upgrade over those two. You are an upgrade over those two.
bobcat Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 dont know much about him, from what i read he is considered a back up at best http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4722/chris-williams
boyst Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 ESPN - Bills re-sign G Chris Williams to 4-year, $13.5M deal ($5.5M guaranteed) - Schefter
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I hope its someone we have heard of lol CBF I'm fairly confident our RT upgrade comes through the draft. The cupboard is pretty bare in FA.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 I'm fairly confident our RT upgrade comes through the draft. The cupboard is pretty bare in FA. True. What round? I say 3 or 4 CBF
5 Wide Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Well that's starting guard money. I guess LG can't get any worse than it did last year right?
Dorkington Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 ESPN - Bills re-sign G Chris Williams to 4-year, $13.5M deal ($5.5M guaranteed) - Schefter Hopefully he's just a depth signing.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Rotoworld calls this signing a "head scratcher".
Canadian Bills Fan Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Hasnt even been posted on the PFT site yet lol CBF
Pete Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 If nothing else, bringing Williams back figures to be a relatively cheap option to fill a possible hole on the offensive line. He played on a one-year, $1.376 million contract with incentives in 2013 and a similar deal might make sense if the Rams choose to bring him back. http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/7924/bills-hosting-ol-chris-williams-on-visit so lets sign him for 4 years 13.5 million
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 http://espn.go.com/b...lliams-on-visit so lets sign him for 4 years 13.5 million Gotta reach the salary cap floor somehow!
jrb2590 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) @mikerodak: As noted by @evansilva, Williams finished 74th of 81 guards last season in @PFF grading. 😳 Edited March 12, 2014 by jrb2590
blargo Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 is this guy an upgrade over Legursky ? somebody help me please ? and please dont tell me they overpayed for another backup From what I have read he did well except real physical teams, like SF, SEA and ARI. Which is a HUGE upgrade because our guards struggled against everybody.
Pete Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Gotta reach the salary cap floor somehow! 13.5 million would of been a season and a half of Byrd. Byrd or a tomato can?

The Big Cat Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 From what I have read he did well except real physical teams, like SF, SEA and ARI. Which is a HUGE upgrade because our guards struggled against everybody. Haha, so all the teams he had to play twice a season?
stony Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 From what I have read he did well except real physical teams, like SF, SEA and ARI. Which is a HUGE upgrade because our guards struggled against everybody. So true.
Cash Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Oof. I hope PFF was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off on him. That's not a lot of money for a starter, but it's a huge raise over what he made last year, and by all accounts he was a mediocre to bad starter for the Rams. Legursky was a bad starter (Brown was a tire fire), so maybe that's still an upgrade? Doesn't sound like much of one. I hope the Bills know what they're doing, because it doesn't seem like they do. This really comes across as another Cornell Green type signing.
YoloinOhio Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 From what I have read he did well except real physical teams, like SF, SEA and ARI. Which is a HUGE upgrade because our guards struggled against everybody. It is a value upgrade for sure. Those teams have extremely good defenses. This year we play some pretty average defenses in the AFC West and NFC North, then you have the Jets as the only formidable one currently in our division.
