The Big Cat
Spikes, gone. Talib, gone. Arguably the two most impactful players on their already suspect defense. Now there's the possibility Edelman say 'no thanks' to the Welker treatment. Has their formula finally run its course? Last year was a miracle season for them. Are they finally destined to make a signifiant regression?
BillsVet
Doubting the Patriots and Belichick has been as appropriate as trusting the Bills over the years.
Big C
By all means their dynasty should be coming to an end, but they also shouldn't have been a 12-win team last year. So who knows?
26CornerBlitz
@JasonLaCanfora The Bucs have released Darrelle Revis. Let the bidding begin. I still like New England to get this done Edited March 12, 2014 by 26CornerBlitz
Don't stop billievein
Good. I hope the pats pick him up. If he was as good as he was before his injury he wouldn't have been released by the bucs.
RealityCheck
The Pats let all of their good players go for nothing. Then again they have a great QB. How does that work? Anyone have any stats backing up the need for a stud QB? I find it hard to believe considering how amazing the Pats drafts have been.
Over 29 years of fanhood
As long as Brady is around and not falling off, they'll compete for a playoff spot and beyond.

Can't tell if sarcasm on the drafts or not but they usually get 2 or 3 starters because they have 10-11 picks in the draft every year.
Tipster19
Taliban will probably be replaced by Revis, replacing Edelman in a WR heavy draft should be no problem, especially that Dobson has a year under his belt and utility man Shane Vereen will help compensate for catches and Spikes was a liability in pass defense, Pepper Johnson was his biggest advocate and he's with us. No, I suspect that the Patriots will be just fine. Like it or not Belichick is a football genius and he'll retool this roster once again. I'm just wondering what it will be this time, from small slot WR to jumbo TE formations to multi-faceted stable of RBs. I must admit that I do enjoy watching his creativity and innovative concepts, it's great for football and guys like him keep this sport going forward. Oh boy, I feel like a dirty little fat boy sneaking off to eat a chocolate bar for saying that!
26CornerBlitz
@NFLBen Immediately following Revis' official release, the Patriots have opened $3.5 million in cap space by releasing Isaac Sopoaga.

machine gun kelly
I never count the Pats out any year so talks of their demise are always over stated. See last year. Revis is best fit for a man coverage team so makes sense with Lovie Smith his release. I could see him at Cleveland, Baltimore, NYJ, even NO but they can't afford him. Hatred aside, as football fans you must marvel at how he keeps reinventing his team year after year, no matter what is put in his way. No matter what happens between now at the season opener, know he'll have a system in place to maximize whomever is on the roster.

Luxy312
Has their formula finally run its course? Last year was a miracle season for them. Are they finally destined to make a signifiant regression? I look at it fairly simply. During their Superbowl winning years, they had a heck of a defense to go with a heck of an offense. Since that last Superbowl win, they've had 8 seasons and 8 seasons of playoffs with Tom Brady. I'll not even consider the Cassel year, which was good, but still no playoffs. Lets look at their record in those 8 seasons: Lost wild card one time Lost division twice Lost conference championship 3 times Lost Superbowl twice Their defense has taken too much of a back seat IMO to be able to say that they're still in "their winning ways". I believe that their offense with Brady at the helm will be good enough to make the playoffs no matter what. Whether they actually return to being a "dynasty" is in question. peterpan
The rookie the Pats replaced Spikes with looked like an All Pro in his starts. I dont expect a drop off at ILB, I expect a huge improvement.
