Keukasmallies
Does this man just spin the wheel of idiocy and then, when the wheel stops, put the issue under the arrow into effect? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/12/us/politics/obama-will-seek-broad-expansion-of-overtime-pay.html?_r=2 What's next, federally-issued coveralls for all salaried employees? Nanker
Splendid! Now salaried workers can look forward to punching a time clock and having their yearly bonuses slashed as a result of Mr. Know-it-all's clumsy attempts to show worker's he's "really one of them". One can only wonder if he's going to hit up Congress for a pay raise for his own lazy azz. He's a WPOHEIS.

It's almost impossible to imagine how unbelievably naive and out-of-touch this president is. We get the fact that he's never held a job, or run a company, or pretty much done anything with accountability in his life. But if you don't see the complete idiocy of this kind of move, you are, without question, the biggest fool on a ship of fools. NOTE: I love how the NYT refers to this as part of "an economic agenda." Why do you think some of these people work such long hours? Their pay is based on the amount of work/revenue the drive. It's called incentive based pay. Something a person who has never held a real job wouldn't understand.
B-Large
Wow, bad move. You think healthcare expensive now? Wait until you pay Nurse Managers for the 70+ hours a week they work, not just 40. Those people live here, and there are tons of them keeping these places open and running. Holy ****, I have defended the President on many occasions mostly supporting and backing the ACA, but Jesus H BHO- put together some proposal that deal with the real problems in this country.... people are getting tired of politics and small time nitpicking... Little people are getting crushed. B.O. needs more allies to fight off the ill affects of his ill conceived healthcare law. He's in a world of hurt and if he doesn't do something, Hairy-balls Reid is going to lose his job as chief roadblock in the do-nothing Congress. He needed to do something dramatic to get more (likely) voters to rally under his apron. It's bad enough that Stretch Pelosi lost her job as jowls of the House, but how do you expect B.O. to go it alone for the final two years of his reign? It's just not fair. Not fair at all. Look on the bright side. He should be filling in his March Madness picks soon, and critics will forget all about this.

IDBillzFan
B.O. has simply found yet another way to buy votes with other people's money. I think he's running out of votes. I think most professional people who get paid salary know the drill, and also know what will happen if their bosses are forced to pay overtime. The only people who don't get the consequences are the people who don't understand them or won't be subjected to them. You probably could be above-gatorman intelligence to figure this out as a bad idea.
DC Tom
Just looked at what details of this regulation I could find. The biggest change seems to be doubling the threshold for overtime to some $52k. The logic of that is "Well, that's what the original threshold is now, adjusted for inflation," which makes superficial sense. The real effect of this will be ultimately to create more low-paying jobs, expand the working class, and further eviscerate the "middle class" in the interest of "helping the middle class." Philosophically, I'm opposed. Practically, I could care less. Intellectually, it's beyond silly.
