ExWNYer Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) So this was my attempt. I've been on record as saying I don't want an OT at #9 but Watkins & Evans were both off the board and Robinson was too good to pass up in this situation. Ebron was still there but I went Robinson even though I like Ebron more than some. I was most disappointed that I didn't get a big WR or TE. I had a shot at WRs Kelvin Benjamin & Jordan Matthews but thought that Minnesota DT Ra'Shede Hageman represented better value. TEs Troy Niklas & Auston Seferian-Jenkins were both off the board before my pick at #73. I probably should've grabbed Penn St WR Allen Robinson at #73 and he went promptly went at #74 after I took DE Jackson Jeffcoat (son of former Cowboys & Bills DE Jim Jeffcoat). I didn't expect to be taking two defensive players in the first three rounds. I did really like getting LSU RB Jeremy Hill in the 4th. Aaron Murray was a too good to pass up as a flyer in the 5th, IMO. Louisville LB Preston Brown is a tackling machine and I like his size. If nothing else, he'd provide 'backer depth and could, hopefully, play on special teams. In any event, it was fun. OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN (Round 1 - #9) DT RA’SHEDE HAGEMAN MINNESOTA (Round 2 - #41) DE JACKSON JEFFCOAT TEXAS (Round 3 - #73) RB JEREMY HILL LSU (Round 4 - #109) QB AARON MURRAY GEORGIA (Round 5 - #149) ILB PRESTON BROWN LOUISVILLE (Round 7 - #224) Edited April 20, 2014 by ExWNYer
KRT88 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) I ran three simulations and Teddy Bridgewater went 1st overall all three times! Come on, this guy stock has fallen big time! When I finally got an acceptable start, I had: Mack OLB Jace amaroTE Trever Reilly DE Jared Abbrederis WR Rashaad Reynolds CB Charles Leno OT Not too thrilled with that. then: 9 OT TAYLOR LEWAN MICHIGAN 41 DE KONY EALY MISSOURI 73 WR JORDAN MATTHEWS VANDERBILT 109 TE C.J. KRT88 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 If you haven't tried this, it's a lot of fun and there is a new big board. We have discussed this before, but I tried it again with the new player rankings and came up with a pretty good draft. Traded down in each of the first three rounds and ended up with multiple picks in the second third and fourth rounds. Here's what I got. 16 ILB C.J. MOSLEY ALABAMA 41 S LAMARCUS JOYNER FLORIDA STATE 53 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN FLORIDA STATE 73 OT JOEL BITONIO NEVADA 87 G ANTHONY STEEN ALABAMA 105 DE DEMARCUS LAWRENCE BOISE STATE 117 CB BASHAUD BREELAND CLEMSON 120 WR BRANDON COLEMAN RUTGERS 137 DE ED STINSON ALABAMA 149 ILB MAX BULLOUGH MICHIGAN STATE 169 RB DEVONTA FREEMAN FLORIDA STATE 201 TE JOE DON DUNCAN DIXIE STATE How did you trade down?
BobChalmers Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) 9 OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN (I could have had Matthews instead - hard to believe both are there at 9) 41 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN FLORIDA STATE 73 TE TROY NIKLAS NOTRE DAME 109 QB A.J. MCCARRON ALABAMA 149 ILB LAMIN BARROW LSU 224 RB JAMES WILDER JR. FLORIDA STATE How did you trade down? Yeah - I didn't see how to do this either - pretty damned happy with how the players fell for me though! Edited April 20, 2014 by BobChalmers
CSBill Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I got a draft that I think shores up the O-line, provides EJ with a few more weapons, and adds depth to important areas of the D, and provides a stud ILB in case we don't' resign Spikes. The ILB can also play OLB this year. 16 OT ZACK MARTIN NOTRE DAME 41 G CYRIL RICHARDSON BAYLOR 54 TE TROY NIKLAS NOTRE DAME 73 ILB SHAYNE SKOV STANFORD 84 RB CARLOS HYDE OHIO STATE 10 DE KAREEM MARTIN NORTH CAROLINA 13 QB TOM SAVAGE PITTSBURGH 14 CB ANTONE EXUM VIRIGNIA TECH 16 S KENNY LADLER VANDERBILT 16 WR L’DAMIAN WASHINGTON MISSOURI 20 DT JAY BROMLEY SYRACUSE 22 TE COLT LYERLA OREGON I like it. What big board did you use? I used Fanspeak. Using WalterFootball will produce drastically different results (like perhaps Savage in the 7th. Although some guys I got later would be gone when I got them.) two too many Notre dame players for me
KRT88 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I see there's a premium draft board., I assume that's where you can trade down, However, I'm not paying for anything like this.
maryland-bills-fan Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 YOUR PICKS R1 DE JADEVEON CLOWNEY SOUTH CAROLINA R2 DE KONY EALY MISSOURI R3 OT JACK MEWHORT OHIO STATE R4 DT DOMINIQUE EASLEY FLORIDA R5 RB ANDRE WILLIAMS BOSTON COLLEGE R7 DE AARON LYNCH SOUTH FLORIDA I would love that. I would love winning a big lottery. I would love.....
RK_BillsFan Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 So..... how the heck do you trade? Or is that something you have to pay for? Also, when I use Fan Speak's draft sim, I always run multiple sims and use the different big boards to see what changes from round to round. It gets really wonky around round 3 with players that sometimes fall. Also lets remember it's updated every week.
Tiz427 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I dont see this really happening but....... 9 OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN 41 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS WASHINGTON 73 WR MARTAVIS BRYANT CLEMSON 109 DE JACKSON JEFFCOAT TEXAS 149 QB AARON MURRAY GEORGIA 224 OLB DENICOS ALLEN MICHIGAN STATE
KRT88 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 9 OT JAKE MATTHEWS, TEXAS A&M 41 ILB C.J. MOSLEY, ALABAMA 73 RB TRE MASON, AUBURN 109 DE JACKSON JEFFCOAT, TEXAS 149 QB AARON MURRAY, GEORGIA 224 TE JAKE MURPHY, UTAH wow, wouldn't mind this too much. two instant starters and even though I couldn't grab a WR we have weapons everywhere for EJ. didn't plan on drafting a RB but too much value in round 3 for Mason. I'd love to have multiple round 3 and 4 picks as choices were difficult. round 5, I had so many options but in the end Murray is the EJ backup plan just in case we need him in a year.
xsoldier54 Posted April 20, 2014 Author Posted April 20, 2014 Your top 4 picks would go a long way to filling positional needs. How realistic is it for Bitonio to fall that far? I think Mayock has him as his 4th or 5th best OT. I ran the simulation several times and he always seems to be there in the third or fourth round.
RyanC883 Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 two too many Notre dame players for me ha. not intentional. Went with the best guys. I mean, you may not like the school, but you wouldn't turn down someone like Bettis or Montana! (or Tate, or Eifert)
FutureBillsGM Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I ran the simulation several times and he always seems to be there in the third or fourth round. 1B4IDie Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'd like this: 9 OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN 41 TE TROY NIKLAS NOTRE DAME 73 RB TRE MASON AUBURN 109 DE WILL CLARKE WEST VIRGINIA

thebandit27 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Gave it a shot using Walter Football's board, and kept re-loading it until it looked realistic (i.e. no Odell Beckham going to Jacksonville at 3rd overall, etc.): R1 DT AARON DONALD PITTSBURGH R2 TE AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS WASHINGTON R3 OT ANTONIO RICHARDSON TENNESSEE R4 RB LACHE SEASTRUNK BAYLOR R5 ILB PRESTON BROWN LOUISVILLE R7 WR L'DAMIAN WASHINGTON MISSOURI

Fanspeak gave me too many options in round one but this I think is do able if there are no trades. P.S. I hope the bills trade down to the bottom 1/3 of the first.
Cash Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Bumping this because Fanspeak ditched Optimum Scouting (or whatever it was called) and replaced them with something called DraftTV and Ourlad's (I've heard of them -- could be a good addition on the cheap?). I tried a 5-rounder with DraftTV and got a result that you ground & pounders would probably ******* over: 9 OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN 41 G GABE JACKSON MISSISSIPPI STATE 73 TE TROY NIKLAS NOTRE DAME 109 RB CARLOS HYDE OHIO STATE 149 ILB SHAYNE SKOV STANFORD
