xsoldier54 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 If you haven't tried this, it's a lot of fun and there is a new big board. We have discussed this before, but I tried it again with the new player rankings and came up with a pretty good draft. Traded down in each of the first three rounds and ended up with multiple picks in the second third and fourth rounds. Here's what I got. 16 ILB C.J. MOSLEY ALABAMA 41 S LAMARCUS JOYNER FLORIDA STATE 53 WR KELVIN BENJAMIN FLORIDA STATE 73 OT JOEL BITONIO NEVADA 87 G ANTHONY STEEN ALABAMA 105 DE DEMARCUS LAWRENCE BOISE STATE 117 CB BASHAUD BREELAND CLEMSON 120 WR BRANDON COLEMAN RUTGERS 137 DE ED STINSON ALABAMA 149 ILB MAX BULLOUGH MICHIGAN STATE 169 RB DEVONTA FREEMAN FLORIDA STATE 201 TE JOE DON DUNCAN DIXIE STATE
Johnny Hammersticks Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 It's a start, lol. Your top 4 picks would go a long way to filling positional needs. How realistic is it for Bitonio to fall that far? I think Mayock has him as his 4th or 5th best OT.

CSBill Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) My picks. RD 1 #9 - OT GREG ROBINSON AUBURN (I was surprised he was still there, if it happens, I'd be thrilled) RD 2 #41 - RB TRE MASON AUBURN (I love the way he plays, reminds me of a younger, stronger, Fred Jackson, and time to think of replacing him) RD 3 #73 - DE MARCUS SMITH LOUISVILLE (I've heard good things about him) RD 4 # 109 - WR CODY LATIMER INDIANA (I've seen him listed much higher, if he's here, grab him) RD 5 # 149 - OT AUSTIN WENTWORTH FRESNO STATE (Moving to a guard position, to be a long term fixture there) RD 7 #224 - TE COLT LYERLA OREGON (Low risk, high reward pick) Edited April 17, 2014 by CSBill
OCinBuffalo Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 I've tried this. Unfortunately, I always end up ahead/behind who I want to pick. The novelty of feeling like a GM a little, whose guy was just taken ahead of his pick, and cripes "now what do we do?" has worn off. Seriously, I'm starting to get the feeling that if I keep doing this, my bad mojo is going to screw us up somehow. The last thing I want is the draft to go the way it has when I've done this thing.

If you can get me my favorite WR AND TE, outside the 1st round...do whatever the hell you want in the 1st round. This would potentially be the best first 3 rounds of a draft we have had in a very long time, if ever. (I'd poop my knickers and do back-flips!) I think Mayock has him as his 4th or 5th best OT. Bucky Brooks has Bitonio going very early in the 2nd round, maybe even pick #33. But, what exactly is this? Is there a link to go to...or do we just pick our mocks and put them here?

boyst Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 ASJ and KElvin Benjamin won't last that long. Maybe Benjamin after the skipped workout - but I would love to find that was a stunt by a GM to make his stock fall.
thebandit27 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 It looks like you can just take whoever you want in whatever round. Bitonio in the 3rd and Lawrence in the 4th? Why not Khalil Mack in the 6th?
Johnny Hammersticks Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Kony Ealy at 41? I guess I'd take him there if Aaron Donald isn't on the board. lol
simpleman Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) It looks like you can just take whoever you want in whatever round. Bitonio in the 3rd and Lawrence in the 4th? Why not Khalil Mack in the 6th? Check out the site. It is a draft simulator program that allows you to choose from various readily available positional ranking lists, and assigns the players drafted by other teams strictly according to the program designers perception of their positional needs and then next highest ranked player at that position. Similar to how the simulator that Astro provides data for the Bills for. It is strictly for amusement and limited by the information that is fed in by the programmers. But it is still fun anyway. In a real draft players sometimes do drop from pre draft day expectations. Who would have ever expected the Bills to get gifted with Glenn in the 2nd? Almost no one! Bangarang Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 First attempt at this. Overall, not too bad. I think I got 3 starters out of the 1st 3 picks which is nice. No idea how it happened but I landed Savage in the 7th which looks like a steal at this point. Didn't see a RB I liked in the mid rounds so I can see a guy like Jerome Smith out of Syracuse getting looked at as a priority UDFA.
RyanC883 Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) I got a draft that I think shores up the O-line, provides EJ with a few more weapons, and adds depth to important areas of the D, and provides a stud ILB in case we don't' resign Spikes. The ILB can also play OLB this year. 16 OT ZACK MARTIN NOTRE DAME 41 G CYRIL RICHARDSON BAYLOR 54 TE TROY NIKLAS NOTRE DAME 73 ILB SHAYNE SKOV STANFORD 84 RB CARLOS HYDE OHIO STATE 10 DE KAREEM MARTIN NORTH CAROLINA 13 QB TOM SAVAGE PITTSBURGH 14 CB ANTONE EXUM VIRIGNIA TECH 16 S KENNY LADLER VANDERBILT 16 WR L’DAMIAN WASHINGTON MISSOURI 20 DT JAY BROMLEY SYRACUSE 22 TE COLT LYERLA OREGON First attempt at this. Using WalterFootball will produce drastically different results (like perhaps Savage in the 7th. Although some guys I got later would be gone when I got them.) Edited April 19, 2014 by RyanC883

VanCity Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I did a 4 rounder that worked out nicely. 1. Robinson 2.Amaro 3. Jeffcoat 4. Max Bullough Can't see it falling quite that well, but man I love the depth of this years draft.
