Not really. Williams was already a starter last year, so if you move him into Byrd's spot, it still opens up a hole in the starting lineup. Or are the Bills just gonna play 10 on D?

I will also say that aside from Byrd and Whitner, pretty much every safety signed for less than I expected. Williams' extension doesn't look like a bargain right now.

I understand the point about needing a new starting SS. That's a different discussion entirely. The idea put forth was that we didn't sign any quality replacement for Byrd. We did. A Williams is our new FS and he did very well there filling in for Byrd last year until injuries forced us to use him at CB. Our FS position is in very capable hands.

That is a good move by the Jags. I wouldn't have minded Gerhart as a Bill.

If you're keeping score, the Patriots lost their Probowl CB in Talib, and let their their 26yr old run-stuffing ILB Brandon Spikes and last year's leading receiver (105 rec) Edelman hit the market.

Same old crap at Foxboro, letting their best young players walk because Kraft is cheap. When will that team ever learn?

Be careful what you wish for. There are a lot of signs pointing Revis in that direction.

It was a joke, aimed at all the whiners today on TSW.

The New England Patriots

The Buffalo Bills

One of the above teams has earned the benefit of the doubt and one hasn't. I'll let you decide which is which.

Is 14 years of not making the playoffs a joke, too? Add to that 18 years since we actually won a playoff game.

Just curious what your level of humor really is.

Oh come on. You're better than that, K-9. That's like taking out a massive loan and then bragging about how much cash you have.

Q: "But what about all this debt?"

A: "That's a different discussion entirely. All I'm talking about is how much cash I have on hand!"

If you want to say that Aaron Williams appears to be a better FS than SS, or will be in Schwartz's system, that's one thing. But the bottom line is that we lost a starter, and a very good one to boot. If you insist, we can say that the starter we lost was Williams at SS, but we still have a hole in the lineup. I'm not saying the Bills have to run out and sign a replacement safety right away -- maybe Duke Williams could step up? -- but I do expect the Bills to use Byrd's money to upgrade somewhere else if they don't sign a replacement.
