Well if you can't get DeSean Jackson.

I'm surprised that nobody has signed Jason Avant. I know he's not spectacular, but he is a veteran and a very reliable WR.

Avant to Carolina:

@PFF_Pete

Jason Avant is a productive slot receiver and good run blocker. Nice pickup for the Panthers this late in the game.

Glad to hear it. As a Michigan fan I always try to keep track of other former Wolverines, and he's had a good career.

This is a good signing for the Panthers, but they still need more help at WR.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will sign Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl center Alex Mack to a five-year offer sheet by Friday, league sources told ESPN.

The deal will be designed to make it as difficult as possible for the Browns to match, sources told ESPN.

The deal will make Mack the NFL's highest-paid center by a wide margin, according to sources.

Cleveland can match the offer, but only have 5 days.

Gotta give credit to the Jaguars this offseason. Even if they don't get Mack, they have signed some quality players.

@NFLBen

The Browns are expected to match Alex Mack's offer sheet, keeping Mack in Cleveland.

That's a lot of money for a Center. He's good but not great, IMO.

@sn_nfl: Alex Mack isn't worth this much money ... no matter who gives it to him http://bit.ly/1qxV6Vv

@sdoerschukREP: Browns 5-11, 5-11, 4-12, 5-11, 4-12 with Mack playing every game. Budgets get broken for heavers, not hikers.

the Browns will match. it's a no brainer.

they took a chance with the transition tag that the market would come in for less and they lost. without compensation they have little choice but to keep him.

When I was at school at Michigan, I was always struck by both Avant and Breaston. Always thought those guys would be successful NFL receivers, but they were never considered great NFL prospects. Great to see both of them stick so long.

Braylon Edwards and David Terrell, on the other hand...
