2014 NFL free agency predictions

NFL free agency opens Tuesday afternoon, bringing with it a flurry of transactions. What can you expect? Chris Burke and Doug Farrar look ahead, predicting where the top free agents in the AFC and NFC will land.

AFC Predictions

1. S Jairus Byrd (current team: Bills): Dolphins

The top safety — and probably the top defender — on the market wants to cash in on his trip into free agency. So, why not head to a franchise that’s shown no qualms about attempting to buy its way to a better roster? Miami ponied up for Mike Wallace last offseason, handed Brent Grimes a huge contract last week and has a need at safety with Chris Clemons departing. – Chris Burke

I've seen reports of Whitner to Cleveland.

Edit...can't find a link. Everything I see is that they are serious about him.

Less sticker shock than with Byrd. Also hearing that the Bears are after Whitner.

Bears calling around the league, seeing if they can find a trade partner for DE Julius Peppers, per sources. Trade unlikely...

good luck with that

Dolphins released CB Dimitri Patterson, per source.

The #Panthers are attempting to trade WR Steve Smith, per source. Given his $7M cap number and age (34), seems unlikely.

Bears are releasing RB Michael Bush, per source. One more RB on market.

Safety Louis Delmas agrees to terms with the Dolphins. Max deal of $3.5 million for one year.

I hope you are not expecting too much. We will be lucky if we go after 1 legit Top-50 FA.

I am affraid you are right :-(. Sounds like most teams have acted on the guys they want already and are just waiting for the official free agency time to come.

That would be a big loss for the Raiders.

Was hoping the Bills would go after him.

Any news on if the Bills have reached out to any players?

The dust has to settle first and it has yet to officially move

#Bucs are trying to sort out their options on Darrelle Revis. They’re uncomfortable paying him $16M. As @alexmarvez said, trading an option

Several teams interested in Revis believe ultimately Bucs might simply release him. That coupled with his high salary complicates trade talk

Short of a trade in the next two days, the Buccaneers are expected to release CB Darrelle Revis by 4 p.m. Wednesday, per league sources.

I guess Revis will hit FA, Smith doesn't need him to run the boring cover2 D.
