Fixxxer Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 @Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 9m The #Saints are cutting RB Darren Sproles, per source. @Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 9m Releasing #Saints RB Darren Sproles saves$3.5M & continues the house cleaning of sorts on offense. Lance Moore cut, Pierre Thomas in danger
Maury Ballstein Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Guess Saints aren't going back to playoffs anytime soon. Sproles has been huge for them. When he's out they struggle. Guess he's nicked up, know he missed some time last year.
Kellyto83TD Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This is what happens when you put one player (Graham) over the team. You have to cut other good talent to afford him. Lance Moore got cut as well

IMO, he is their best weapon next to Graham (with Kenny Stills not far behind).

Lance Moore got cut as well it really says something about the way this league works If this were the Bills and we had sign Byrd to cut Lawson, Carrington, and Bradham - what would we think? If we had to sign Spiller to cut TJ Graham, Chandler, Pears and Summers... what would we think?
Mr. WEO Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Who says they cut Sproles for reasons other than their conclusion about his future performance?

Guess he's nicked up, know he missed some time last year. The offense may end up better for it. Gearing up for a power running game on khiry robinsons (and Ingrams) back may actually help them function more efficiently. At times it seemed they were trying to force Sproles at the expense of being well balanced. They were at their best as a team when they could grind on a running game (see Super Bowl). Couple that with finding Pierre Thomas, Chris ivory and now Robinson as udfas you have to think they can find good cheap backs. Wouldn't be shocked though if Thomas joins Sproles in the housekeeping and dexter mccluster takes over punt returns (since lance was Sproles backup there and both are gone) and the receiving back role. Khiry Robinson will be on every one of my fantasy teams next year.

Lance Moore got cut as well Its Graham and Brees actually who combined will take up about 25% of their cap I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Sproles resign with them though. They could afford to cut Moore bc they have that rookie who played pretty well last year
Mr. WEO Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'd say goodbye to Lawson, Carrington, Bradham, Graham, Chandler, Pears and Summers! Exactly. And Spiller and Byrd ain't Graham...
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I hope he doesn't go the Patriots. You know that is where he will end up too. Perfect fit. I bet he is signed by them this week.
#34fan Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I hope he doesn't go the Patriots. Or the Jets, or the Dolphins. I was thinking maybe Rams or Steelers would be a good fit.
thewildrabbit Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Perhaps back to the Chargers, or the Lions who would love what he can do out in the flat.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 it really says something about the way this league works If this were the Bills and we had sign Byrd to cut Lawson, Carrington, and Bradham - what would we think? If we had to sign Spiller to cut TJ Graham, Chandler, Pears and Summers... what would we think? Interesting choice of players. More was a 1200 yd wr and sproules a key cog in their o. Wouldn't it be more like cutting spiller and Stevie to keep Bryd?
mrags Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 This kind of move is exactly what I've been talking about for a while now. Good teams lose their FAs on occasion. It happens. It's the NFL and it's the nature of the business. I bet the Saints fans are doing the very same thing us Bills fans do to OJ their message boards. Jumping off bridges and doom and gloom is most likely happening right this minute down in the bayou. The only difference here is that Saints fans can believe that this move is happening to try and save money for Jimmy Graham. Which IMO, they'll never be able to cut enough to sign him. But well have to wait and see on that.
