birdog1960 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 No one gives a **** about Toyota. Free markets, on the other hand... so is a free market defined as lack of regulation? would you be happier with no transportation safety admin? is there some litmus test for equal enforcement of regulations? how do we know that renault oir fiat aren't less closely scrutinized than gm or ford? we don't. this is conclusion jumping without adequate data.
Nanker Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 13 deaths at the hands of GM, 4 on Toyota. Toyota isn't "getting" a bum rap. They GOT a bum rap all because the Obama regime wanted to smear Toyota's reputation with consumers in order to make GM cars more appealing. That's all - a clear cut double standard crafted by the liberal left that's so concerned about the safety of the American public that they kill one company based on inaccurate and trumped-up allegations that they can barely find time to talk about thirteen dead Americans at the hands of Government Motors. Somewhere in the distance I hear the cackling laughter of the libtards that think those deaths are a joke.

Of all the things the Illuminati could do, they wasted their ultra-efficient conspiracy machine attacking the reputation of Toyota? Edited March 11, 2014 by John Adams
DC Tom Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 By the Illuminati? Of course. It was revenge on the yakuza for destroying New Orleans with their KGB weather machine. And now the yakuza have responded bu using the machine to down that Malaysia Air jet with clear-air turbulence. Wake up, sheeple!
Nanker Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Let the minutes of the meeting reflect the fact that "U.S. officials, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx and Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, were scheduled to announce a "significant criminal law enforcement action" at a press conference in Washington at 9:30 a.m. EDT" The over $1Billion settlement includes a deferred prosecution agreement if the company meets certain conditions. Five people died in Toyotas because of this "flaw". Meanwhile, GM killed 12 people with a faulty ignition switch. "I am very sorry for the loss of life that has occurred," GM CEO Mary Barra said at a roundtable meeting with journalists on Tuesday.

Dante Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 (edited) So if Toyota has to pay 1.2 billion due to this government mafia like action, how much does this same government owe for all the families it has tore apart and destroyed because of CAFE standards? "According to the Brookings Institution, a 500-lb weight reduction of the average car increased annual highway fatalities by 2,200-3,900 and serious injuries by 11,000 to 19,500 per year. USA Today found that 7,700 deaths occurred for every mile per gallon gained in fuel economy standards. Smaller cars accounted for up to 12,144 deaths in 1997, 37% of all vehicle fatalities for that year. How many deaths have resulted? Depending on which study you choose, the total ranges from 41,600 to 124,800. To that figure we can add between 352,000 and 624,000 people suffering serious injuries, including being crippled for life. In the past thirty years, fuel standards have become one of the major causes of death and misery in the United States — and one almost completely attributable to human stupidity and shortsightedness." http://www.nationalr...l-deroy-murdock Edited March 19, 2014 by Dante

It says nothing about the driving habits, ability and experience of the drivers of different sized cars. Nothing about miles driven by size of car either. It doesn't well define the period of time studied. Hard things to measure but probably impactful in the results.

I guess we made up for it with our food prices skyrocketing!
