thebandit27 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Let's assume for a moment that Massare is credible on the status of Byrd-related negotiations... It appears that this is all good news in that case; being down to guaranteed money means that they're in agreement on the length of contract, average annual compensation, basic structure, etc.
reddogblitz Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 He is definitely a crafty guy, who knows how to cover, and ball hawk...but I don't think of him as a hard hitting, sure tackler. I'll have to disagree on the bolded part. While he may not be a flashy bring the wood type of guy, I see him as a very sure tackler. Probably one of our best tacklers IMHO.
YoloinOhio Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Not surprised. As you say, guaranteed money is the crux. Gotta believe Parker is demanding north of the $25m plus that Berry got. Even though Berry plays a much more demanding position and is better at it. GO BILLS!!! Which Parker doesn't "agree with", I am sure

Even though Berry plays a much more demanding position and is better at it. GO BILLS!!! Berry could be a tough comp point as his money wasn't negotiated on the open market for his ability, it was the slotted contract of the pre CBA draft nonsense. To 25m guaranteed - if that's really the big sticking point we are in great shape on this. That's essentially signing bonus and first two years (atleast roughly?) - which means we are down to structure stuff primarily. It would be a big positive, unless one sides way out of line. Guaranteed dollars could hurt buffalo in mega deals as you need to fund all of them up front (and we don't know the cash flow situation) but in something like this were talking easy money to fund hopefully and generally Byrd doesn't scare me too badly for a guy you can't count on for the next 3 years if he signs. He won't be a meachem getting cut for totally disappearing in 2014 and requiring you to pay him to leave.

Probably one of our best tacklers IMHO. I fully agree. Also, I'd rather have a sure tackler than a "bring the wood guy" anyways. Much prefer losing a few "OOOOOOH" highlights and "WHY THE HELL DIDN'T HE JUST WRAP THE GUY UP???" plays for "boring" sure tackles, myself.

They aren't allowed the highlight reel tackles anymore anyway! 15 yards and a fine!
Dorkington Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Tell that to all the DBs who tackle with a shoulder, instead of trying to wrap players up. It's always hilarious to see them either miss, or not knock a RB or TE over. Instead, they should be going to wrap up the legs... like Byrd often does, and I love it.

Still burns me that he got called for roughing the passer on a clean sack last year- I think it was in the TB game - when he did just that.
Dorkington Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Ugh. Don't remind me. I'm not even sure where you can hit passers these days.

Probably one of our best tacklers IMHO. Yeah, I agree. He didn't seem to have nearly as many tackles, esp. open field ones, this year, as the past few................Those last two before this one, he was outstanding.

Jauronimo Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 What is it? CBF A pic of TBD's latest Twitter prophet that I stumbled upon while trying to figure out his connection to One Bills Drive. The rumor mill is good entertainment, but I don't think we need to prop up every Bills fan opining on social media as an authority.

Judging by the fact that he photographically confessed to violating the NYS Open Container Law, I'd say his judgment kinda sucks.

Pine Barrens Mafia Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 That dude just screams "douche."

Jauronimo Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) You guys are harsh. My impression was that he appears less like some mover and shaker that golfs with Russ on the weekend and more like some early 20s joe-twelve-pack who is trying to pump his website and establish himself in the Twitter sphere. In other words, I think if we start linking that dude's twitter feed as a reliable source then we can start linking to any Bills mafia bro, brah, and broski and that's probably not the best precedent#roadsodas Edited February 27, 2014 by Jauronimo
