The Left and the Media (but I repeat myself) are having real trouble with the idea that Putin is simply lying. No, he must be "insane," they say, instead of deliberately misleading.

It’s sort of dangerous to dismiss Putin as unhinged and insane. And both our media and government seem to be doing it.

More importantly, Putin is of one mind with one goal.

His opponent are 20 squabbling leaders worried more about their next elections than human rights.

Most places are corrupt and poorly run - the economic disaster part is usually do to being a one industry town and having that industry decline - when the oil boon ends in North Dakota the towns that have sprung up will be just as !@#$ed, even though they are upstanding god fearing white conservatives there.

no, some places are corrupt, some are poorly run, and some are both.

some places are neither.

I don't know enough about the people in oil-towns in the Dakotas, but I'm reasonably sure they're not all white, I doubt they're all religious, and don't care if they're conservative or not. when the oil is gone, they will go elsewhere.

they'll only become like Detroit if local politicians pay them to stay and not work.

Detroit's population is 38% of it's peak so I guess a couple people left

It's settled then! Barry isn't a liar; he's also insane.

who is being dumb here? i'd say putin. give the man enough rope...maybe obama saw that in him. it certainly seemed a reasonable theory to me. and again, what would be the response in the west to an 11% one day drop in equities in the us markets? what was the biggest one day drop in 2008? how'd that year play out for our prestige, economic power and reserve currency stability? ya think it can't happen to russia? is the g8 meaningless?

here you go. it's a very similar drop on 10/29/29: http://en.wikipedia....ustrial_Average

Obama saw that with enough rope that Ukraine would suffer from internal instability spurring Russia to effectively invade the Crimean peninsula resulting in the MICEX dropping 12% in one day? That theory is reasonable? He couldn't see or prevent his own website from causing his administration serious embarrassment when the national media was covering the story 5 months prior to roll out, but he he definitely saw this coming.

I think you're confusing Machiavelli with Nostradamus. Why don't you take a look at the MICEX and see how monthly corrections in late 2011 crippled Russia?

It's settled then! Barry isn't just a liar; he's also insane. or Barry isn't a liar, he's insane - please pick one

It's already been proven beyond any doubt that he is a liar. No one of any political stripe can deny that simple fact. That said, you could easily argue he's insane since no sane person would lie so blatantly and repeatedly to the American people just so he could pass the single most embarrassing legislation every signed into law by a president.

Liar? Undeniable.

Insane? We can only hope that's what it is.

not enough of them, apparently.

Boom Bust is always a problem because you can take money out of you pocket and build during the expansion but you can't unbuild and put money into your pocket during the contraction- miles of streets with decreased population require the same patrolling/snow removal/ repair as before but with a diminishing tax base.

That would be nice. Then we could pray he sticks his finger in a wall socket or maybe step in front of a hay baler somewhere. I'm afraid he is a clever guy(like a lot of con men and politicians) although not particularly intelligent. To bad, I really like the insane fantasy.

Boom Bust is a problem. Boom Bust Boom Bust Boom Bust is not. SF is a perfect example of reinventing itself. They're already talking about the current boom (techies) and the eventual bust to follow.

SF never had the mono-industry Detroit had, hell Buffalo had more diverse industry but we ended up with similar problems at a smaller scale -Pittsburgh has done a pretty good job of reinventing itself

But your first point is the problem with government. During boom times they take everything out of their pocket to grow never planning for a rainy day. Time and time again.

And who's fault is it that these cities were mono-industrial? I have no sympathy for them....zero.

you choose to live near a fault line, others live on river plains, tornado allies, The shale oil wells deplete much faster than the traditional sandstone ND is booming now but the schools and infrastructure they rush to build now will be pretty empty later- people are flawed you especially

I'm sorry, mother nature didn't hit Detroit. How have these faults in CA ruined our cities as Detroit has been ruined. SF was leveled in 1906 and came roaring back pretty damn quickly. And how long before ND's shale oil is depleted? If it's depleted quickly I will have no love lost for them either.

And I'm flawed?

Yes you're a white conservative. You're only redeeming feature is you're not religious.
