How can you effectively moderate when you don't fully understand the pathology of a rule breaker? Who make the best IT security experts? Former hackers. Who make the best casino pit bosses? Former cheaters. Like they say in Training Day, a good narcotics officer will have narcotics in his system most of the time. There are countless examples from other popular movies where those most effective in thwarting rule breakers were on the other side of the fence not so long ago. Beverly Hills Cop, Silence of the Lambs, etc.

It stands to reason that if you empower the most prolific violator of the TOS and effectively render them above the law, that they will be the ideal moderator.

Was this your campaign announcement speech?

Makes me overqualified.

indeed.

First off, I'm hardly the most prolific violator of the TOS. Second, I think you missed the joke.

This jocularity is most unseemly.

The POWER... I can feel it now!

(insert evil, maniacal laugh)

Probably not a good idea for me as I am more than a bit opinionated and enjoy an instigator role. I have seen a lack of moderation by moderators on other boards so I would hate to mess up the good reputation here.

To date, the folks that contribute now have been pretty darn good on "the Wall".

Well that is most unseemly. There is no place for sarcasm on the internet.

Oh, no. Sarcasm, there's plenty of room for.

Facetiousness, though...that needs to go sit in the corner and think about what it's done.

That does bring up a good point. We don't really have a corner. We just have the wall. We need a corner somewhere

perhaps a floor, that is down to earth and beginners, start their journey of wall memberships and a ceiling where those who are over the top go to voice their opinions, , thus a floor and wall and a ceiling. The room would be for those special relationships .

Ok Scott, slim Pickens. Why don't you just hire Beerball to over see it full time 24-7 as he is in need of a job. I think he would work for peanuts..

Hope your search is going good.

Do we get windows?

Do we get windows?

my bad entirely, yes windows also a special outlet where Scott could gain some financial support as lurkers would look through to see activities of wall. Also on wall would be mirrors where posters could look at selves to gain a introspective feel. This at a to be agreed cost of course

( had better be careful or this thread could become on of those threads, and we all know what they are..)

Can we vote on the nominees? Or at least make them sign a 'less is more' pledge? Some of the volunteers scare me.

Or just pick Levi, Jauronimo and millbank please. Or Chef Jim if we're going for pure entertainment value.

So...... you want DC Tom as a mod?

I would welcome Tom's reign of terror moderation. Tom considers me his intellectual peer. We go tit for tat, we jibber jab, and jabber jaw; he wins some, I win some, but at the end of the day there's a mutual respect.

 Like I consider anyone an intellectual peer.

I already moderate the boards. When you're an idiot, I let you know.

Keep that stuff in the Michael Sam thread or PPP
