  1. 1. Would you like to see 1BD acquire Jonathan Martin for the 2014 season?

    • Yes, he is a good but inexpensive player that can fill a hole on the Bills roster.

    • No, the Bills have a strong locker room and Martin would put the team's chemistry at risk.

So they should have given up more in the trade just to scream "confident in this player!" Uhh, I'm not sure you get quite how this whole thing works.

Well, it actually supports a couple things.

1. No other GM's wanted him for anything. Not even a regular 7th. So while Biscuit says he's gonna believe in Harbaugh, he's saying he doesn't believe in Coughlin, Belicheck, McCarthy, Tomlin and the rest of the vaunted winners in the NFL.

2. The condition is that they are only going to give up the pick if he makes the roster in September. Meaning that the 49ers don't know if he will. Again, not screaming "confidence" here.

In fact, I'd harken this more to the 49ers giving Martin one final chance in the NFL because Harbaugh knows Martin. Not because he's a good player.

No offense but I'm going to go with Jim Harbaugh's opinion over yours. :)

Haha. Or he's the fat kid who got bullied, worked out, and then became the bully. He's a joke and his defenders are even funnier.

I'll go with Bill Belicheck's over Harbaugh's.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Harbaugh might have the best start of any coach in NFL history. Belichick had a Jauron like record before Brady. I'd love to see how Belichick would have done if his QB was Alex Smith instead of Brady.

You mean the Alex Smith that took Andy Reid to the playoffs?

From one perspective, Harbaugh gave up on Smith to play Kaepernick, a young QB who has choked in 2/3 big games in his career. So there's also that.

Belicheck and Tomlin have built Super Bowl winners, Harbaugh has not. He may have gotten off on the right foot, but even Rex Ryan went to the AFCCG twice.

Wow, you just don't in reality. Check out Belichick's 1st 3 years as a coach and compared them to Harbaugh's first 3. Check out Alex Smith's career prior to Harbaugh being his coach. And Kaepernick only went to a SB and NFC championship game his first 2 years as a starter? What a loser!!! :w00t:

Kaepernick lost those games singlehandedly. You could argue that he's a choker.

Who cares about his first 3 years? Does it change anything? Does it mean he'll win 18 Super Bowls because his first 3 years were good? I ask you again to look at how good Rex Ryan was in his first few years. Still no ring. Who cares? Super Bowl winners trump all.

Harbaugh was dying to replace Smith as soon as he could. Despite Smith taking them to the playoffs in 2011, Harbaugh couldn't wait to dump him in favor of Manning.

Check out the talent pool in Cleveland in '91 vs the 49ers in '11. Harbaugh has done a good job, but he was handed a loaded team. BB had to do a complete rebuild of an aging team.

You're not supposed to say that. Stick with the script.

Cleveland was 3-13 before Belichick and went 6-10 his first year (weird that was Marrone's record!). The 49ers went 6-10 pre Harbaugh and then went 13-3 and to the title games. They had good players but what really impresses me about JH is how maximizes QBs. Alex Smith threw 1 td and 11 ints as a rookie. Imagine if EJ did that! Every qb that plays for Harbaugh gets better.

IMO, Harbaugh is a great coach because he has has success with multiple qbs. I think Joe Gibbs is the most underrated coach in history because he won a SB with 3 different QBs. The only time Belichick has been successful as a head coach is when he got handed a top 5 qb of all time.

Matt Cassell says hi.

You mean that Matt Cassell who took over a 16 win team, lost 5 more games, took the Chiefs to the playoffs and made a pro bowl? Who were the other great qbs developed under Belichick before Brady?

Rex Ryan had success with Sanchise. Hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 4 years. Great coach?

We'll see how good Harbaugh and Kaep are when Kaep wants $20 million a year and they lose half of their studs. My guess? Not so good.

Harbaugh has made the SB and 2 NFC title games (losing to the eventual champ both times) in 3 years with 2 different QBs. Trying to discredit Harbaugh as a coach is just silly.

Hello, my name is Vincent Frank Testaverde. Darn glad to meet you. What was your question again?

Posted

Seriously, Testaverde?

Yes Testaverde. I'm sure you're familiar with his performance before and after Cleveland.

And please don't use the "great QB" as a qualifier, because by that standard, neither Smith nor Kaep are great. So Belichick made Vinny, Brady and Cassell into very good players, which is a tremendous feat for a defensive genius. And those are the only young QBs he's had to work with in his career. He also knew when to send Bernie & Drew out to pasture.

In 3 seasons with the Browns, Testaverde was 16-15 as a starter and threw 47 tds (15/ year) and 37 (12/ year) ints. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TestVi00.htm In his only full season with Bledsoe, he threw 17 tds and 13 ints and went 5-11.

All signs point to him getting his career as a head coach being made by Tom Brady.

I'm not discrediting Harbaugh. I'm discrediting you labeling him as a great coach.

Great coaches don't almost get traded by management.

Considering Vinny's pedigree coming from Tampa, what he accomplished in Cleveland could be considered a miracle. As for his coaching career, he was still highly sought out before Brady landed in his lap. And what do Bledsoe's figures tell you, if not supporting my point that he knew when to dump aging vets, and still managed to fleece a team out of a first round pick for Drewsie.
