thewildrabbit Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 The more I look at this Draft the more I agree with this take...My one exception would be if OT Greg Robinson somehow managed to slide to #9...Which I realize is very unlikely...He's the one guy I would 100% stay put and Draft...Otherwise a trade down would be my preference...Even if Watkins is there at #9...And I really like Watkins a lot...I just think there is even better value in trading down a bit and picking up an extra #2...The mass influx of Jr's in this Draft has made the first two rounds very deep IMHO...And 3 picks in the first 50 or so would really give the Bills a chance to further improve this roster...I think in a trade down scenario Ebron, Evans, or Benjamin would be the target in round #1... So much speculation, and there is a lot to be said for NFL bloodlines, i.e. Clay Matthews- Bruce Matthews. Along with four year starters on College. While I don't much hold onto what Mel Kiper Jr says, he does state that this years top three OT's are superior to last seasons top three OT's who went #1, #2, #4 overall in last years draft. Plus, so many teams are so desperate for that franchise type QB I feel several teams in front of Buffalo will reach for a QB. Manziel, Bortles, Brigewater, and Carr should all go in the top eight. DE Clowney is a lock to also be gone by eight, so that leaves three players left. Now, both WR Sammy Watkins, LB Khalil Mack are both projected to be gone by the ninth pick, so that could very well leave Buffalo with their choice of two or perhaps even of all three of those top OT's. Anyway, this is why I can't wait for the combine and to hear what Mike Mayock has to say about this years rookie draft class.
Mark Vader Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 My overall preference would be to add picks. This draft is deep and I think that is best case scenario and we can still address our needs. Based on the fact we don't need to take a QB this year, unless the Bills are locked in on someone they absolutely have to have at 9 (I would be surprised if this were the case) I think they will not hesitate to make a trade if they have a partner. If the Bills were to trade down, how far back would we want them to do so? 5-7 picks back or 10-12?

If they have a specific player in mind who they want in the 1st, it would depend on how far they think they can trade back and still get him. Probably too early to tell.

Just remember Mayock called part time college starter Robert Ayers the best defensive player of his draft class. Just a FYI. I do think he is the best of the "experts" though.
