GG
So long Henry, you've left a long trail of wax. (and of course blames the Tea Party, not his assent to the leadership of a divisive Congress) Edited January 30, 2014 by GG

B-Man
This is very basic. Rep. Waxman was fine when he was Chairman of the committees and could bully everyone. Now (and for the forseeable future) he is in the minority and he simply cannot accept that. Thus the baseless crap that he is spewing. .
IDBillzFan
Waxman should be the poster boy for term limits.
IDBillzFan
I missed this, but apparently last month Waxman wrote an article about why he was running in 2014. Makes you wonder...what must have changed in the past month or so? Well, all we have to do is divide what we know of Waxman -- is he the kind of man who would pass Obamacare for his own health coverage or for his enemies? Now, a clever man would pass Obamacare for his own coverage because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he is given. We are clearly not fools, so we would not choose to take Obamacare. But he would have known we are not great fools...he would have counted on it...so he could not choose to participate in Obamacare! Truly he has a dizzying intellect.
4merper4mer
You can tell by looking at him that the dude got continuously got beaten to a pulp in high school and based his entire career on getting back at the cool kids. In society the cool kids are productive people whereas in high school they are the jocks. He should have just gotten some job where he could fire ex-jocks. That way society would not have had to suffer from his vindictive behavior.

Gary M
"Mr. Waxman, 74, joins the growing list of House members who are calling it quits, many in disappointment over the partisanship and ineffectiveness of a Congress that may end up as the least productive in history." When they say least productive, think hard about what they produce and realize that this should be good for America!!!
B-Man
"Mr. Waxman, 74, joins the growing list of House members who are calling it quits, many in disappointment over the partisanship and ineffectiveness of a Congress that may end up as the least productive in history." When they say least productive, think hard about what they produce and realize that this should be good for America!!! The suggestion that Henry Waxman is leaving because of a lack of bipartisanship is crazy talk. He isn’t leaving because of a lack of bipartisanship, he’s leaving because of a lack of power. When he had power, he was a ruthless, mean-spirited, hyper-partisan ideologue. That’s the thing. When liberal Democrats are running everything, the lack of bipartisanship is a trifling concern. When they can’t have their way, the system itself is broken. Bye Bye, Henry Waxman From the New York Times story on Henry Waxman, who is retiring: He is also credited with laying the foundation for many of the executive actions that Mr. Obama, during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, pledged to pursue. One involves the Clean Air Act, which Mr. Waxman helped write and which gives the Environmental Protection Agency the authority it is now exercising to regulate power plant emissions of greenhouse gases. Mr. Waxman saw to it that the bill would allow the president, on his own, to order improvements in automobile fuel efficiency and other energy saving efforts. In which case, good bloody riddance. Political differences are one thing, but a legislator who actively works to undermine the power of the legislative branch really does have no place in the system. Separation of powers works only if the branches jealously guard their liberties — refusing to subjugate their preferred outcomes to the integrity of the system that they swore to uphold. When they do not, it can’t function. .
