Buftex Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Huh...like a lot of things with the Bills lately, just hmm... not sure how to feel about this, but at the very least, not an inexperienced college guy. Isn't Downing the QB coach from the Lions too? If your going to steal, might as well do it from the best...
Just in Atlanta Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Superbowl. Or doooooomed. Nothing intelligent to say here. Detroit D seemed aggressive, but not cohesive to a casual observer like me. But maybe the same can be said about the Bills this season. Why can't these guys stick around for more than a year? Good grief.
Reed83HOF Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Schwartz should be fine; Downing was Detroit's QB coach. Did Stafford have crappy mechanics?
Maury Ballstein Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Won't be the first or last time we hear this.
Big Turk Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Stafford was a disaster from a mechanic standpoint, but I think a lot of that was him just being lazy...he seems pretty content at here he is career wise... Hopefully Schwartz isn't planning on bringing the Wide 9 with him...
Beerball Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Isn't Downing the QB coach from the Lions too? 4 years as QB coach in Detroit.
stony Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 His D lost Avril and always had horrible DBs. I think he can be successful with the talent here. His "rah-rah" attitude should be more of a fit on the coordinator level rather than the HC.
Prickly Pete Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Raiding the Detroit coaching staff? Shooting pretty low... If they change to 4-3, how might it effect the draft?
BigdaddyinOrlando Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Like the hire, Detroit def may not have as aggressive last because their secondary is horrible! With ours he should be able to dial up the pressure and worry bout gettin torched each time, just my line of thinking!
Beerball Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Raiding the Detroit coaching staff? Shooting pretty low... If they change to 4-3, how might it effect the draft? Need a MLB
NoSaint Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That came out of nowhere, never saw anything linking Schwartz to Buffalo. Crossman!
voodoo poonani Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Hmmm... Perhaps it was our inability to stop the run that led to this pick. I'm intrigued. On paper it looks good. He's got talent to work with. We'll just have to see what the product on the field is.
Max997 Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I got the impression the Bills had someone in mind during the Pettine interview process so with the quick move I have to believe this is who they wanted
FluffHead Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Raiding the Detroit coaching staff? Shooting pretty low... If they change to 4-3, how might it effect the draft? You're going to hear a lot of the "scheme flexibility" and "multiple front" narrative, but in a 43 I would imagine kiko goes to weak side, Lawson plays the Sam and the mike is 43.....kidding....the mike probably isn't on the roster yet
NoSaint Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Hopefully Schwartz isn't planning on bringing the Wide 9 with him... Yea- I don't think that'd be the best with Mario (ie a big strong guy that can win in tight spaces as opposed to one that'll outrun you around the corner)
Rubes Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I'm glad it's a guy with a lot of DC experience, and a pretty good one at that. We'll have to see how much change he wants to bring. If he keeps Henderson, perhaps we can keep Byrd.
Buftex Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 I find the Downing hire a little more puzzling. EJ needs work on mechanics...Downing was the QB coach for the Lions the last two years...Stafford has bad mechanics... hope he can do a better job with Manuel.
runner Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Think about it, Crossman was Schwartz' special teams coach in Detroit, then left to be with Marrone in Buffalo. I am sure he has kept in contact with him, then when Schwartz lost his job and the openning happened in Buffalo, phones were ringing...
